The problem this seat exists to solve

The adviser will assess how liquidity measures affect essential suppliers during an industrial recovery. The task requires distinguishing purchasing leverage from dependence and identifying where delayed payment, reduced orders or changed terms could interrupt the recovery itself.

Qualified candidates

Candidates should have experience in industrial procurement risk, restructuring or supply-chain finance. They need practical understanding of production dependencies and commercial negotiation. Evidence of preserving continuity during a distressed supplier or customer situation is particularly relevant.

Build and test the supplier intervention

Map suppliers by operational consequence, substitutability and current exposure. Review arrears, disputed invoices, purchasing commitments and the lead time to qualify alternatives. Ask whether apparent options are usable within the period that matters rather than merely available somewhere in the market.

The assessment should distinguish a supplier's temporary cash concern from a deeper capability or viability problem. Recommendations must consider the cost of interruption and restart, not only the amount of cash preserved by withholding payment.

For a payment extension, show the expected liquidity benefit and the consequences if supply stops. For advance payment or support, examine what protection and performance evidence management would require. The adviser should identify which assumptions are confirmed and which depend on cooperation that has not yet been secured.

Advice management can implement

Develop a prioritised continuity plan with procurement, finance and operations. Recommend how payment decisions, commercial discussions and alternative sourcing should be coordinated. Identify where management needs legal or specialist advice before making commitments or representations.

Deliver a decision-ready supplier risk assessment, proposed actions and escalation criteria. The work should make the interaction between cash preservation and operating resilience clear enough for authorised managers to choose deliberately.

The adviser does not bind suppliers, approve payments or guarantee continued supply. A useful engagement leaves an owned monitoring process that responds when conditions change, rather than a static list of supposedly critical counterparties that no longer reflects the operating plan.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement

No office of director, and no appointment formalities.

An advisory engagement creates no directorship in France. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.

On this brief
Independence
Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.
