Deep technology and semiconductors organisation in France

The problem this seat exists to solve

The adviser will design and guide customer validation for a deep-technology offering. The purpose is to determine which use cases justify further product investment and what barriers stand between technical interest and sustained adoption. The work must distinguish a supportive conversation from evidence of a real purchasing and deployment decision.

Define what needs to be learned

Review the product's current capability and the assumptions behind target segments. Identify the customer's problem, the alternatives they use and the cost of changing. Establish what a validation activity should reveal about performance, integration, buying authority and willingness to commit resources.

Develop a practical sequence of interviews, trials or other evidence-gathering activity appropriate to the product. Management must authorise any external engagement and customer commitments. The adviser should ensure that trial expectations do not imply readiness or assurance beyond what the product can currently support.

Interpret the results carefully

Compare feedback across the people who use, approve, purchase and support the technology. Conflicting views may reveal a deployment barrier rather than weak demand alone. Record which assumptions have been supported, contradicted or left unresolved, and explain what that means for product scope and commercial timing.

Relevant qualifications

Candidates need experience in deep-technology product strategy, customer discovery or commercialisation, with evidence of converting technical capability into a validated proposition. They should understand enterprise buying and integration constraints and be comfortable reporting findings that challenge the preferred narrative.

Recommendations and authority

Deliver a validation plan, an evidence record and recommendations on product priorities or market focus. Include the limitations of the sample and the next decision supported by the work. This is an advisory role without director office or authority to set product strategy, pricing or contractual terms.

The strongest outcome may be a narrower market entry, a changed product boundary or a decision to pause an opportunity. The adviser should make those options clear without overclaiming what a limited validation exercise can establish. Conflicts involving prospective customers, investors or competing products must be disclosed before they influence the engagement.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement

No office of director, and no appointment formalities.

An advisory engagement creates no directorship in France. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.

On this brief
Independence
Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.
