Healthcare technology organisation in Germany

The problem this seat exists to solve

The final pack will include a classified application portfolio, option comparisons, a dependency map and a recommended sequence of decisions. Cost estimates should distinguish cash savings, avoided future expenditure and capacity released for other work. Benefits that depend on process change must identify the responsible business owner.

The output is a set of choices

This adviser will develop a practical application rationalisation recommendation for a healthcare enterprise. The deliverable is a decision framework and sequenced portfolio proposal, supported by cost, dependency and operating evidence. The engagement carries no authority to decommission systems, approve clinical workflow changes or commit the client to replacement products.

Discover actual use

The starting point is an application inventory that describes actual use. Licence records alone will not reveal local databases, departmental tools or interfaces that have become essential to daily work. The adviser will work with system owners and operational leaders to distinguish active capability from obsolete or duplicated technology.

Treat duplication as a question

Two applications with similar labels may serve different workflows, while several products may duplicate the same function unnecessarily. Recommendations should consider information quality, integration complexity, user needs, supportability and contractual constraints. The adviser must explain why a proposed consolidation improves the operating model, not simply why it reduces the system count.

Prove that retirement is possible

Each proposed retirement will require an account of data retention, access to historical records, downstream dependencies and replacement readiness. Where uncertainty is material, the recommendation should define what discovery or pilot work is necessary before a decision. A temporary integration layer may be preferable to a rushed replacement, but its continuing cost and ownership must be explicit.

The adviser will facilitate choices between local autonomy and enterprise standards. Clinical, privacy and security specialists retain their professional decisions. The adviser translates those constraints into portfolio options and prevents unresolved disagreements from being concealed inside a technical roadmap.

Expertise behind the recommendation

Candidates need experience assessing complex application estates, preferably involving healthcare or other information-sensitive services. They should demonstrate the ability to uncover undocumented dependencies and communicate difficult retirement choices to operational stakeholders. Commercial awareness of contracts and support arrangements is important alongside architecture knowledge.

The engagement succeeds when leaders can make defensible choices about the estate and understand the conditions attached to each recommendation. It should leave the organisation able to maintain the portfolio assessment after the adviser departs, with uncertainty visible and no implication that an untested application list constitutes a migration plan.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement

No office of director, and no appointment formalities.

An advisory engagement creates no directorship in Germany. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.

On this brief
Independence
Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.
