Interim Executive Director of Technology Integration

The problem this seat exists to solve
The executive director will lead technology integration across acquired or combined operations, with accountability for service continuity, delivery priorities and the approved investment plan. The assignment requires deciding which systems and capabilities should converge, which should remain separate and what must be understood before irreversible changes are made.
An integration thesis translated into work
Establish the business rationale behind proposed technology changes. Map applications, data, identities, suppliers and critical skills, paying particular attention to dependencies hidden by high-level architecture diagrams. Identify immediate control requirements separately from longer-term opportunities for efficiency or commercial improvement.
Create an executable sequence that reflects customer commitments and the capacity of receiving teams. Lead the integration team and resolve cross-business disputes within delegated authority. Where an expected synergy depends on assumptions that no longer hold, present a revised option rather than protecting an outdated target.
Two operating responsibilities that cannot wait
Maintain clear service ownership throughout the transition. Users and customers must know who responds when an issue crosses the old organisational boundary. Establish a shared incident and change process where necessary, while avoiding premature consolidation of systems that are not ready.
Protect the integrity of access and data. Review privileges, external connections and information movement as businesses become connected. Security improvement should be built into the integration sequence, with residual exposure documented and accepted by the proper authority.
Candidate discussion
Applicants should demonstrate technology integration leadership with financial and delivery accountability. They should explain an occasion when retaining separate systems was the sound decision and another when consolidation was necessary despite resistance. The role requires commercial understanding as well as architecture and cyber-risk judgement.
Handover to ordinary management
Major contract changes, employment matters and reserved expenditure remain subject to authorised approval. The director must make those decisions timely and evidence-based. At completion, permanent leaders should inherit functioning services, known operating costs and a realistic plan for residual work.
Success will be assessed through continuity, control quality and realised operating value. Closing technical tasks is insufficient if the combined enterprise remains dependent on temporary teams or cannot explain who owns a critical service and its future investment decisions.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Germany usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in Germany
- A supervisory board member attending meetings does not require a residence permit. A management-board (Vorstand) appointment for a non-EU national does, and is a substantially heavier process.
