Interim Business Process and Technology Alignment Lead

Business transformation organisation in Germany

The problem this seat exists to solve

The lead will coordinate the alignment of business processes with a technology implementation. The assignment ensures that decisions about roles, information and exceptions are made explicitly rather than embedded accidentally in system configuration. It requires operational analysis and delivery leadership across business and technical teams.

Find the choices hidden in the current process

Map the work from request to outcome and identify where teams use different definitions or informal workarounds. Determine which variations are necessary and which arise from unclear policy or ownership. Bring decisions to the appropriate service or process owners, with practical examples of the consequences for users and staff.

Lead design into implementation

Translate agreed processes into requirements and acceptance scenarios with the technical team. Check that configuration and workflow decisions reflect the intended authority and information needs. Where the technology cannot support the preferred process without disproportionate complexity, present options rather than allowing the issue to remain hidden until testing.

Coordinate process documentation, training and operational preparation. The lead should ensure that exception handling is as clear as the standard path, particularly where a transaction or request requires judgement rather than an automatic rule.

Candidate requirements

Candidates should have business process, programme or transformation delivery experience with technology-enabled change. They need analytical skill, facilitation and the ability to communicate with technical specialists without pretending to replace their expertise. Evidence of implementing a process change and measuring its operation is important.

Authority and measures

Within the agreed remit, the lead owns alignment work and delivery coordination. Policy decisions, material investment and system design approvals remain with designated owners. The engagement should produce an implemented process with clear responsibilities and tested interfaces.

Evaluate results through processing reliability, avoidable rework and the experience of the people using the service. Handover must explain outstanding exceptions, limitations and the process for approving future changes. Success is not identical diagrams across departments; it is a shared understanding of how work should move and a system that supports that understanding without forcing staff to rely on undocumented corrections outside the approved workflow.

Before you apply — this is an executive role

An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Germany usually does not.

This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.

Position in Germany
A supervisory board member attending meetings does not require a residence permit. A management-board (Vorstand) appointment for a non-EU national does, and is a substantially heavier process.
