The problem this seat exists to solve
Candidates should have senior leadership experience in agricultural processing, food ingredients or another relevant variable-input manufacturing environment. They need direct responsibility for production performance and a record of working constructively with technical specialists. Experience improving yield or reliability must be supported by evidence that product quality and workforce safety were maintained.
Improve output without hiding the cost of instability
The interim director will lead performance improvement in an agricultural processing operation. The assignment focuses on the interaction between raw-material variability, production planning, yield, maintenance and customer requirements. It requires hands-on management of operating priorities and a clear account of the trade-offs involved in improving throughput.
Establish a reliable baseline for yield, downtime, rework, waste and finished-product availability. Confirm that measures use consistent definitions and account for differences in input quality and product mix. Identify whether the principal constraint is equipment, planning, raw-material readiness, skills or an unstable operating process before committing to a major intervention.
Decisions to lead
Coordinate production, maintenance, quality and procurement around the binding constraints. Within delegated authority, adjust operating priorities and improvement resources while preserving the required safety and quality controls. Capital requests should show the problem being solved, alternatives considered and the operational conditions needed to realise the benefit.
Review how maintenance work is prioritised and how recurring failures are investigated. Examine whether short-term output targets encourage practices that create later loss. The director should make capacity promises consistent with the process's demonstrated capability and ensure commercial teams understand the consequences of product changes or urgent orders.
Stable performance and permanent ownership
The engagement should leave a more stable operating rhythm, a prioritised maintenance and improvement plan, and managers capable of sustaining it. Handover must include remaining constraints, investment choices and the assumptions behind the capacity plan. The interim director will not override authorised quality release or specialist safety decisions. Material employment, capital and contractual changes remain subject to agreed approvals, while the director is accountable for operational execution and timely escalation within the mandate.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Germany usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in Germany
- A supervisory board member attending meetings does not require a residence permit. A management-board (Vorstand) appointment for a non-EU national does, and is a substantially heavier process.
