The problem this seat exists to solve
A business is evaluating a partnership between African and Gulf markets as a route to expansion. The adviser will establish whether customer demand, partner capability and commercial economics justify entry, then give the sponsor a clear recommendation on the next investment decision.
Build the commercial evidence
1. Define the target customer problem, proposed offer and assumptions behind the market entry case.
2. Assess potential partners against operating capability, commercial incentives and evidence of market access.
3. Develop a realistic entry model covering customer acquisition, delivery requirements and funding needs.
Close the diligence gaps
You will coordinate commercial diligence and identify questions requiring local professional advice. You will present a go, revise or stop recommendation supported by evidence and a practical next-stage plan.
Decision package and timing
- First month: agree the market hypothesis and evidence collection plan with the sponsor.
- By month two: deliver a partner assessment and initial unit economics for the proposed model.
- At completion: present a decision-ready entry recommendation, unresolved dependencies and implementation priorities.
Experience needed to advise credibly
The role requires demonstrated market entry or partnership development experience in the relevant sector and geographies, supported by verifiable examples and references.
Additional useful experience includes completed Africa-Gulf commercial partnerships and experience supporting execution after an initial market assessment.
The adviser works with the CEO or an appointed executive sponsor. Recommendations, analysis and coaching form the deliverables; management retains approval and implementation responsibility.
The initial advisory period is expected to run for three to six months, typically two to six days a month, with workshops scheduled around the agreed outputs. Start date, remuneration, travel and on-site attendance will be agreed for the appointment.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement
No office of director, and no appointment formalities.
An advisory engagement creates no directorship in the United Arab Emirates. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.
- On this brief
- International candidatures are accepted.
- Independence
- Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.
