Venture-backed healthcare and life-science services organisation
The problem this seat exists to solve
Twenty-four months is the term given to an Interim Regional President, answering to the Board Chair, whose task is to pull the local plans of a venture-backed healthcare and life-science services group into one operating agenda that somebody can be held to.
One agenda out of many plans
Regional healthcare services businesses are usually assembled rather than designed. Clinics, laboratories, specialist services and research support arrive through acquisition or local growth, each with a plan that made sense where it was written. Added together, those plans rarely make a region. They compete for the same leaders, assume the same referral flows, and ask for capital on incompatible timetables. The Interim Regional President, reporting to the Board Chair, holds executive authority for 24 months to turn that collection into a single agenda that somebody can be held to.
The authority is broad and specific at once. You will decide how the region takes decisions and how far a country head can commit on their own signature. What a request for capital, clinical capacity or new controls must prove is yours to define in every market, as is the verdict on each existing commitment: keep going, pause, or close it formally. A plan that would leave a clinic or laboratory carrying exposure it never accepted goes back to whoever wrote it. Money is withheld from any value case that cannot name the clinicians or service teams who must change how they work, the operations it leans on, and the damage if it falls short. The regional leadership team and the route a problem takes upward need your approval, and where the Board Chair and the heads of services pull in different directions you resolve it before any money moves.
Doing this well in healthcare means respecting a constraint that other sectors can ignore: clinical services cannot simply stop while authority moves. Every change in who decides has to leave patient care and regulatory standing undisturbed. A good regional president consolidates the plan without consolidating every decision; some judgement belongs close to the patient, and part of the work is writing down exactly where.
You have led value creation whose effects were felt in the boardroom and on the clinic floor alike, and you have carried out buy-side M&A as well as professionalisation in groups with at least $420 million of revenue and 2,900 people, working in five or more countries. Strategy formation is wanted at level 4; at level 3 the seat wants P&L ownership, operating cadence and risk judgement. Baselines you set have held up when a board chair pushed on them and when the clinicians and service leaders who know the work best pushed harder. You have said no to money for a project whose users and downside nobody could name, then rebuilt the capacity it was supposed to buy.
How the region should look as the term runs
Ninety days in, the Board Chair should have signed off a regional framework that draws the local plans together and records how much each country head may decide alone. By month nine a single regional operating agenda should be in force, with every local commitment either adopted into it, paused or ended on the record. By month 24 the regional leadership structure should be established, problems should be reaching the right level without your intervention, and the board should be receiving one evidenced view of progress across markets.
Before you say yes
If you need every country head on side before a commitment can end, or want sway over the region without carrying 24 months of accountability for it, you will find this frustrating. If that is not you, there are four steps. The Board Chair comes first, during week one, on a private video call. The Risk Committee Chair follows in week three, with a practical session on a live problem. Week five sits you across a table from the executives who lead the various functions, and week seven puts you before the full board. Each step is followed, within four working days, by our account in writing of how it went.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in the United Arab Emirates usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in the United Arab Emirates
- A non-resident non-executive director attending board meetings travels on a visit visa. A resident director role, or any controlled function at a DIFC or ADGM firm, typically requires residency and a work permit.
