My contribution to a board
I would help a board ask which conclusion the technical evidence actually supports. An output can be numerically precise while missing its reference context. An average can be internally consistent while treating absence as a measured value. A benchmark can improve substantially without establishing the product-wide benefit used to justify investment. These questions concern the enterprise's promises and decisions, not a director's attempt to review every algorithm. I would bring experience of correcting an interface I had approved and of retaining a useful technical result while declining a larger claim. My background also gives me a reason to ask which professional owner should assess an interpretation outside engineering. I have executive presentation experience but no statutory-board track record. A first role would require understanding the whole company, including its financial, people, commercial and sector obligations, alongside colleagues whose expertise extends beyond my own.
Judgement in practice
01Making omitted context visible in an interface I had approved
The coordinate review covered 240 datasets: 180 already matched the required projected basis and 60 used geographic coordinates. We recovered verified source information and transformed the 60 appropriately, spending ₹28 lakh. I had accepted the interface that omitted the relevant context. At board level I would ask whether management understands the assumptions its product output depends on and how they reach the commercial claim. The correction did not certify survey accuracy or establish legal land boundaries. It addressed a defined software omission. That restraint matters because a more defensible technical result can still be enlarged into an assertion the company has neither tested nor authority to make.
02Preserving the population behind an apparently complete analytical view
Seventy-two of 120 equal-area plots had valid observations with a mean index of 0.64; 48 were cloud-masked. Zero-filling those missing plots produced 0.384 across 120. We corrected the path and kept 60% coverage beside the observed mean rather than infer the unobserved values. I would ask directors whether the product and reporting account distinguish observation, estimation and absence. The case does not establish an agricultural or hazard outcome. It shows why an interface's convenient default can become an unsupported statement about the world. Oversight should be able to question that interpretation without expecting a board to prescribe every data representation itself.
03Retaining a useful experiment while deferring the larger promise
A lookup median fell from 65 to 24 milliseconds, while the complete request's 95th percentile moved from 1.8 to 1.7 seconds under the reviewed workload. The different scopes and statistics did not support a 2.7-times-faster whole-experience claim. We kept a limited component use, retained ₹29 lakh experiment cost and deferred ₹4.6 crore broad rollout. I would help a board examine the route from technical result to investment approval. The local improvement was not worthless, but its existence did not settle the larger proposition. A useful governance account should preserve both facts and the evidence needed for the next decision, rather than turn a deferred budget into an invented saving.
My first year on a board
I would begin with the receiving company's business model and the chair's expectations, then learn how its most important analytical or technical claims reach board decisions. Familiar terms such as validated, accurate or faster may refer to different populations and reviews in another enterprise. I would ask management to explain their meaning before importing examples from spatial software. Induction should include commercial obligations, financial interpretation and the sector's professional boundaries, with access arranged through the agreed governance process. During meetings I would follow the assumptions the board has chosen to monitor and ask how new evidence affects earlier approvals. I would also seek feedback on whether my questions help the board understand the enterprise or draw it too far into engineering detail. The first year should broaden my judgement beyond a CTO's remit, including the ability to recognise when another discipline needs to lead the enquiry and when a technical explanation does not resolve the business decision.
Conflicts and their management
Before receiving private papers I would disclose relevant relationships through Tavqemi's owners, clients, data providers, software partners and personal interests. Analytical products often connect organisations through shared inputs or dependencies that are not obvious from a sector label. Qualified advisers should assess the actual position under applicable company-law, independence and listing requirements where relevant. Relevant interests may arise through relationships even where I hold no personal equity. I would consider whether a proposed recusal leaves enough scope to contribute and decline a role where the overlap or demands make useful service impractical. Employer consent and available time require the same practical attention. I would not transfer proprietary datasets, source code, unpublished benchmarks or private licence terms into an outside discussion. Experience can inform the questions without making another organisation's confidential evidence available. The review should continue as relationships and programmes change, with the board kept informed rather than relying indefinitely on a declaration made before appointment.
My independence statement
A proposed role needs review of connections through Tavqemi's founders, investor, employee vehicle, clients, data providers and software partners. No personal allocation and no current statutory seat do not establish independence for a particular company.

The seat I am pursuing
I am interested in one first outside appointment where a board has a specific need for judgement about analytical products or technology investment. Risk or strategy committee membership could be appropriate after the company assesses its needs and applicable requirements. I do not assume readiness to chair a committee, and executive presentations are not a substitute for statutory experience. The fictional assessment pass records a preparation step, not a conclusion about independence or eligibility for a particular seat. Twenty-four days is provisional and must include induction, papers, meetings, travel and exceptional work beside the CTO role. I would seek an experienced chair and colleagues with complementary commercial, financial, legal and sector expertise. The role should give me a reason to learn the whole enterprise and a contribution I can make responsibly. I would rather leave a proposal open than accept it on the strength of technical reputation while its practical conditions remain unresolved.

IICA Independent Directors’ Databank: Proficiency assessment passed
The fictional preparation record states April 2026 IICA databank registration and an August 2026 proficiency-assessment pass. It claims no exemption and leaves appointment requirements, independence and company-specific suitability for separate assessment.
