The boardroom
Bring the assumption into the decision before the claim grows
I would help directors examine the meaning that sits between a technical result and an enterprise promise. A coordinate calculation needs a valid reference basis. An analytical average needs a defined population. A performance ratio needs a workload and statistic that match the claim. Those conditions can disappear as evidence moves from engineering into a product or investment paper. The board's enquiry should be able to restore them without requiring directors to become the authors of the underlying software.
The coordinate-interface correction includes my own earlier approval. I accepted a numeric contract that did not preserve enough context for the intended operation. The review distinguished 180 compatible datasets from 60 requiring appropriate transformation after their source basis was verified. We spent ₹28 lakh on the correction. I would ask whether management can identify where its assumptions enter a result and whether the assurance addresses those assumptions, rather than only confirm that the implementation behaves consistently.
The missing-observation case concerns the boundary of knowledge. Seventy-two valid plots had a mean index of 0.64, while 48 were cloud-masked. Replacing absence with zero produced a different aggregate and a misleadingly complete display. We retained the observed population and 60% coverage separately. A board should understand whether a product distinguishes what has been observed from what has been estimated or remains unknown. A smooth interface should not make that distinction harder to discover when it affects the customer's interpretation.
The cache trial and benchmark also require restraint. Lower serving cost did not settle whether a tile represented the promised source revision. A faster lookup did not establish a proportionate change in the complete request. We rolled back the affected cache use, funded unfinished replacement work and deferred a broad performance rollout while retaining a bounded component improvement. I would ask how the enterprise preserves those statuses in its public and financial account. Approved work, a useful experiment and a delivered production benefit are different facts.
Distribution permissions connect engineering with the commercial arrangement. A successful build did not establish that every component could be supplied in the proposed desktop package. Qualified review led to replacements, removed capabilities, delay and cost. I would ask whether the product promise reflects that assessed basis and whether professional findings reach release instructions. A board should not be asked to infer rights from technical availability or to accept a packaging change as proof that an unresolved obligation has disappeared.
I bring these questions as someone preparing for a first statutory role. Executive presentations have taught me to explain technical choices, but collective oversight requires a wider view of the business. I would need induction into the receiving company's financial, people, commercial and sector obligations, with complementary expertise around the table. Risk or strategy committee membership may be appropriate after a specific assessment. I do not claim readiness to chair solely because I lead an engineering function.
Relationships and confidentiality need continuing attention. Tavqemi's owners, clients, data providers and software partners may create relevant links to another enterprise. Qualified advisers should assess the actual circumstances, including whether recusal would leave enough scope to serve usefully. No personal allocation does not determine independence. I would keep proprietary datasets, source code, unpublished tests and licence terms within their authorised settings, allowing experience to inform my questions without transferring another organisation's evidence.
My fictional preparation includes April 2026 IICA registration and an August 2026 assessment pass, with no exemption claimed. Those steps do not decide suitability for a particular appointment. Twenty-four days is provisional and must accommodate induction, papers, meetings, travel and exceptional demands alongside the CTO role. Employer consent and practical capacity come before commitment. I would seek a clear contribution the board needs and a chair who expects learning as well as challenge. The purpose is to improve collective judgement about what the enterprise can responsibly claim, including the point at which its evidence supports a narrower answer.
On governance
I want a spatial result to carry enough context to support interpretation. Coordinates require a reference system and units. A raster needs to distinguish an observation from a missing value. A map tile needs a relationship to the source revision it represents. Engineering can make a result look precise and responsive while removing one of those conditions. My responsibility is to keep the condition inside the design and the claim, including when it makes a demonstration less smooth or an investment case less impressive.

I would consider a first outside board contribution in a technology or analytical-services business after assessing its specific needs and my capacity. I hold no statutory seat. Fictional IICA registration began in April 2026 and the proficiency assessment was passed in August 2026, without an exemption. Twenty-four days is provisional and requires employer consent, relationship review and company-specific preparation.
