Beyond the headline

Correcting the attendance claim I had built from confirmed registrations

Describe the room before selling its influence

In 2019 I approved a sponsor account describing six hundred confirmed registrations as six hundred attendees. The registration record was accurate, but Imtiaz’s review showed 420 check-ins for the selected forum. I had allowed an earlier expression of intent to stand for actual presence. We corrected the account and used ₹24 lakh over six weeks to revise the marketing review. The change did not establish participant satisfaction, commercial introductions or sales outcomes. It made the audience claim correspond to the evidence we actually held.

I now lead marketing at Drezqavni Professional Forums in Kottayam. Our 174 colleagues organise regional forums and commissioned briefings, with ₹74 crore FY2025–26 revenue. Twenty-seven marketing colleagues work through three heads within ₹6.2 crore annual operating authority, including ₹2.7 crore campaign spending. Anupama is our CEO, and Imtiaz leads programme quality. We have to explain what a participant or sponsor is choosing before the attraction of an influential audience outruns the programme we can substantiate.

Later decisions concerned a six-edition programme operating in three cities and a proposed meeting schedule containing different kinds of commercial relationships. The former could support a regional proposition, not a countrywide footprint claim. Of forty-eight meeting proposals, sixteen involved buyer functions and thirty-two supplier or adviser functions; none could automatically be described as a completed purchasing conversation. We changed both propositions without pretending that a narrower account made the programme worthless. I hold no personal equity and my board exposure is executive presentation rather than statutory service. A possible outside role would require further governance learning, specific assessment and a workable twenty-two-day annual proposal. My contribution starts with making the opportunity precise enough for someone else to judge.
