Liner Schedule-Reliability Command Leader

Liner Schedule-Reliability Command Leader mandate in Singapore · Global Container Liner Shipping
A global container carrier needs a twelve-month executive after repeated network rewrites, blank sailings and chokepoint diversions left published schedules commercially visible but operationally unowned.
The mandate
The network operations chief resigned after a fourth emergency schedule rewrite failed to reconcile safe routing, vessel strings, terminal windows, equipment flow and the dates still offered to customers. Chokepoint diversions have lengthened round voyages, alliance partners are protecting their own strings, and regional teams insert blank sailings without one view of downstream empty-container or contract consequence. A serving executive is needed to turn an improvised network into a controlled service promise.
The network can allow no more than two weeks before the temporary command is occupied; its mandate then runs for twelve months alongside a global permanent search. During the opening 30 days, unsupported publication changes are frozen, a single voyage-and-port-call truth is established and critical customer cohorts receive explicit protection. Feasible strings and recovery rules are rebuilt over the following two quarters. Peak season becomes the final operating test, after which the permanent appointee must lead one complete schedule-publication cycle before the interim leaves.
Exit from temporary command has four tests: every published sailing must trace to vessel, berth, bunker, crew, alliance and equipment evidence; two consecutive quarterly schedules must operate within board tolerance; unplanned blank sailings and rolled priority cargo must be halved; and each regional override must follow one expiry-controlled route. The incoming executive takes over live diversion assumptions, alliance dissent, terminal exposure, customer remedies and the next network decision calendar—not merely a static planning model.
The interim may alter rotations, blank or reinstate sailings, reallocate operated tonnage, approve recovery inducements up to SGD 8 million and direct global network staff within charter, safety and alliance obligations. New vessel charters above twelve months, alliance amendments, sanctioned-port calls, contract changes beyond delegation and route withdrawal require board or authorised committee approval. The seat cannot override a master’s safety judgement or port-state restriction.
Fleet-renewal strategy, permanent organisation design, freight-rate policy and litigation over historic disruption are outside scope. The leader will expose consequences and provide evidence to those owners but will not become commercial chief, sanctions counsel or newbuilding sponsor. This boundary keeps the assignment focused on executable service, rapid decision authority and a durable network handover.
Why this seat is open
An abrupt resignation converted a difficult routing environment into an accountability gap during the next schedule-publication window. Planners can model alternatives, but none has authority across vessels, terminals, alliances and customer recovery. The board has created a temporary operating seat so published commitments can be governed while it recruits a permanent leader.
What you will own
- Establish one controlled voyage, port-call, berth, crew, bunker and equipment baseline for every operated service string.
- Decide rotations, recovery speeds, qualifying blank sailings and tonnage reallocations within safety, charter and alliance boundaries.
- Protect time-critical customer cohorts through explicit loading priority, transhipment, communication and remedy decisions.
- Reconcile alliance-partner changes with downstream terminal windows, empty-container positioning and contractual service consequences.
- Chair a twice-weekly network forum that records assumption, decision, dissent, owner, expiry and customer implication.
- Reduce unplanned blank sailings and rolled priority cargo while preventing speed-up recovery from breaching safety or emissions limits.
- Induct the successor through a complete schedule cycle, live chokepoint scenarios, alliance positions and unresolved network risks.
Candidate qualifications
- Held global liner network or marine-operations authority across at least 75 vessels and several alliance service strings.
- Has rebuilt schedules during canal closure, security rerouting or prolonged terminal disruption without publishing fictional recovery dates.
- Understands vessel strings, berth windows, equipment balance, alliance obligations, bunker exposure and cargo priority as one system.
- Personally decided blank sailings, rotation changes and customer protection under material commercial and operational pressure.
- Can preserve the master’s safety authority while setting firm shore-side network and publication decisions.
- Completed a permanent handover after carrying a revised liner network through a peak operating season.
Non-negotiables
- Available in Singapore within two weeks and able to work six-day disruption periods with monthly global travel.
- Brings direct global liner authority; schedule analytics or freight procurement alone is insufficient.
- Accepts board, sanctions, charter, alliance and shipmaster boundaries without informal override.
- Will disclose carrier, terminal, charterer, broker and alliance interests before appointment.
- 49 words maximum. Describe a liner string you materially rewrote during a chokepoint or terminal disruption.
- 49 words maximum. Confirm your Singapore start date and the largest operated fleet under your schedule authority.
- 49 words maximum. Which evidence must exist before you allow a recovery sailing date to be published?
