An airline engine-services group needs a two-week diagnostic to reconcile life-limited-part cycles, shop-visit forecasts and certified supply before inducted engines begin waiting for serial-specific hardware.
The mandate
The shop forecast assumes planned removals translate into standard material kits, while actual life-limited-part need depends on engine model, build standard, serial effectivity, accumulated and projected cycles, previous module swaps, workscope findings and the customer’s return-to-service date. Several inducted engines now have unconfirmed LLP positions and quoted supply that lacks acceptable trace. The defined problem is to identify where the next two quarters of shop visits will wait for certified serial-specific hardware, not to optimise the wider rotable pool.
The deliverable is a 64-engine diagnostic containing life-record confidence, removal and induction cases, workscope-to-LLP logic, serial and effectivity gaps, certified-source evidence, kit completeness, lead-time confidence, customer consequence and a valued intervention list. It includes five deep engine traces and three forecast shocks. Maintenance release, life-limit approval, workscope authorisation, part acceptance, purchasing, cannibalisation and customer negotiation are excluded.
Milestone one, at day three, provides the reconciled population, missing-record register and forecast-confidence map. Milestone two, at day eight, delivers five engine traces, the LLP demand bridge and three shock cases. Milestone three, at day fourteen, supplies the material exposure list, intervention economics, accountable owners and executive decision session. A newly added engine family requires a written change order; disputed life approval does not extend the sprint.
Acceptance requires Technical Records, Fleet Planning, shop Planning, Quality, Supply and Finance to reproduce the LLP need and latest safe order date for sampled engines from controlled evidence. Forecast demand must separate confirmed serial need, probable workscope need and unbounded record uncertainty. The diagnostic passes when three shocks—accelerated removal, deeper workscope and rejected documentation—produce traceable consequences without treating an uncertified part or unapproved life assumption as supply.
The client will provide controlled engine and module histories, cycle records, build and effectivity data, removal forecast, workscopes, inspection findings, inventory, purchase and supplier evidence, certification records, shop slots, customer commitments and financial consequences. It will nominate authorised Technical, Quality and maintenance decision owners and secure five observations. The consultant cannot approve life, release maintenance, accept trace, order parts, transfer modules or commit a customer date.
Why this is external work
Fleet teams own removals, shops own workscopes and Supply owns orders, so each forecast begins at a different version of the engine. An external diagnostic can join the serial and cycle evidence without defending an existing plan. The value is a short, independent exposure decision before long-lead LLP gaps become inducted-engine queues.
What you will own

- Test inventory and quoted supply for identity, eligible life, certification, custody, condition, lead time and kit completeness.
- Trace five engines end to end from fleet forecast through induction, workscope, material need and customer return date.
- Model accelerated removal, deeper workscope and rejected trace against shop queue, lease exposure and revenue consequence.
- Value interventions including record recovery, order acceleration, kit swap and authorised schedule change without executing them.
- Deliver exposure lists, evidence gaps, latest decision dates, economics, owners and the executive decision session.
Candidate qualifications
- Directed commercial-engine material planning, technical records, shop-visit supply or LLP programmes across multiple fleets.
- Has reconciled life-limited-part demand where cycle history, module swaps, workscopes and serial effectivity disagreed.
- Understands engine configurations, LLP life records, certification trace, shop induction, workscope escalation and return-to-service clocks.
- Can quantify supply exposure without assuming continuing-airworthiness, maintenance, Quality, purchasing or customer authority.
- Has completed rapid engine-by-engine diagnostics using controlled records rather than fleet averages and catalogue quantities.
- Remains independent of parts traders, teardown providers, MRO shops, leasing companies and trace-validation vendors.
Non-negotiables
- Can complete five Montréal-area observations and the executive decision session within fourteen calendar days.
- Brings direct engine LLP and life-record depth; general aerospace rotables or demand planning is insufficient.
- Will not broker parts, teardown access, repair capacity, records services or follow-on implementation into the diagnostic.
- Accepts Technical, continuing-airworthiness, Quality, maintenance-release, Procurement and customer decision boundaries.
