An electric-vehicle manufacturer commissions a five-month battery traceability design linking cell lots, pack processes, vehicle installation, service events and field actions across its ecosystem and supplier network.

The mandate

The problem is incomplete genealogy between purchased cells, pack assembly, vehicle configuration and field history, which slows containment and makes warranty analysis unreliable. The assignment is limited to traceability design and pilot.

The deliverable is a canonical identity model, event and data specification, supplier requirements, system design, containment workflows, one-line pilot and scaled implementation roadmap.

Milestone one is due 15 October 2026 with current-state gaps and identity model; milestone two on 15 December with target architecture and supplier protocol; milestone three on 15 February 2027 with pilot evidence, containment test and rollout case.

The Battery Traceability Council accepts when ninety-nine-point-five percent of pilot units have complete genealogy, a seeded defect population is identified within thirty minutes, quality validates custody and finance approves scaled cost.

The client provides supplier lot records, manufacturing and test data, vehicle and service events, system access, pilot capacity and participating suppliers. Quality owns defect scenarios and confirms traceability evidence independently.

Why this is external work

Battery, plant, IT and service teams each own separate identifiers and systems. An external team can impose an end-to-end event model without protecting one platform. Specialist battery genealogy design is needed through pilot acceptance only.

What you will own

  • Map identity breaks from cell receipt through pack, vehicle and service.
  • Define canonical identifiers, event semantics and custody rules for milestone one.
  • Specify supplier data, validation and exception requirements.
  • Design integration and containment workflows for milestone two.
  • Configure one-line pilot evidence and completeness controls.
  • Run the seeded-defect identification and containment test.
  • Deliver pilot results, scaled costs and milestone-three roadmap.

Candidate qualifications

  • 18–22 years in automotive quality, battery manufacturing, traceability or industrial systems.
  • Direct design of genealogy across supplier, plant and field-service boundaries.
  • Knowledge of cell, module, pack, test and vehicle configuration data.
  • Experience proving rapid containment through seeded or actual defect populations.
  • Ability to define system-neutral event and identity models.
  • Evidence of supplier adoption of traceability protocols.

Non-negotiables

  • No software-platform resale or supplier referral arrangement.
  • Director onsite through pilot configuration and containment testing.
  • Quality independently owns seeded-defect acceptance.
  • All genealogy data remains client-controlled.
