Infant-Nutrition Ingredient Resilience Board Adviser mandate in Auckland, New Zealand · Global Infant Nutrition
An infant-formula group needs an eleven-month board adviser to challenge whether specialised proteins, oils and micronutrients can withstand supplier loss without unsafe formulation or market disruption.
The mandate
The committee repeatedly receives ingredient continuity in tonnes even though infant-grade usability depends on nutritional function, source species, allergen profile, microbiological control, premix compatibility, formulation registration and line approval. A second commercial source may depend on the same processor or drying tower, and changing an oil or micronutrient premix can reopen months of technical and market work. Directors need to know which supplier loss creates a real product interruption and whether inventory buys enough qualification time rather than simply delaying it.
The advisory calendar combines six quality-and-supply committee sessions with four supplier, premix or factory observations. In each month, three days are reserved to examine ingredient evidence, test one formulation-supply case and prepare and close actions with the chair. When a source is lost or management proposes substitution or an inventory commitment, the adviser marks the decision assumptions by the next New Zealand business-day close and returns a considered paper inside three. Authorised specialists continue to own formulation, product and regulatory conclusions.
Eleven months encompass the annual sourcing decisions and both supplier-loss exercises. The endpoint is a management-run resilience review, not completion of every qualification or registration; a live shortage and its supplier actions remain executive work after handover. Renewal is not presumed: the committee may seek another advisory period only after demonstrating it can maintain the original view, defining a genuinely changed question, passing a new resolution and refreshing conflicts.
The adviser has no line authority and carries no executive responsibility for recipe, specification, supplier qualification, product release, market registration, purchase, inventory allocation, price or recall. Nutrition, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement and business executives retain those powers. The adviser may challenge whether a proposed source or buffer protects stated products and markets, but cannot approve a formulation change or redirect finished formula.
Work for ingredient producers, premix firms, dairy processors, laboratories, competing nutrition companies, contract manufacturers or commodity investors must be disclosed. A conflict involving a source, formulation or market requires recusal from the complete case. Compensation cannot depend on supplier award, inventory purchase, qualification, product launch or later remediation work, and confidential formulation information may not support outside activity.
Why the board wants this voice
Nutrition teams see functional ingredients, Quality sees qualification, Procurement sees contracts and business teams see market demand, while shared upstream dependencies remain obscure. The board wants an operator who has protected infant supply without treating regulated formulations as flexible recipes. Independent challenge can expose concentration and time-to-substitute before a supplier event turns into a recall or empty shelf.
What you will own
- Press management to map each critical ingredient to nutritional function, formulation, product, plant, market and source dependency.
- Test alternate capacity for shared processors, feedstock, drying, premix, laboratory, packaging and transport constraints.
- Challenge inventory cover that expires, degrades or cannot bridge technical qualification and market-registration lead time.
- Probe substitution plans for allergen, microbiology, sensory, process, label, registration and customer consequences.
- Observe four supplier, premix or factory interfaces and compare approved status with repeatable infant-grade output.
- Shape exercises for source loss, contamination hold, port delay, premix shortage and simultaneous market demand.
- Give the chair an ingredient-product map, substitution cases, conflict register and annual resilience challenge agenda.
Candidate qualifications
- Held senior supply, quality or manufacturing authority for infant formula, medical nutrition or similarly regulated foods.
- Has protected product supply through loss of a specialised protein, oil, vitamin, mineral or premix source.
- Understands nutritional function, specification, allergens, microbiology, formulation, processing and market registration operationally.
- Can challenge supply confidence without assuming Nutrition, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement or product-release authority.
- Has uncovered supposedly diverse suppliers sharing one processor, feedstock, facility or technical qualification path.
- Advised boards through a sensitive ingredient shortage while protecting confidential formulation and infant-safety evidence.
Non-negotiables
- Can attend six Auckland sessions and complete four supplier, premix or factory reviews in eleven months.
- Will disclose ingredient, premix, processor, laboratory, manufacturer, competitor and investor relationships before access.
- Brings direct infant or medical-nutrition ingredient depth; general food procurement alone is insufficient.
- Accepts no recipe, qualification, release, registration, purchase, allocation, recall or board-voting authority.
- 49 words maximum. Describe an infant-grade ingredient whose apparent alternate source failed a functional or regulatory test.
- 49 words maximum. Which producer, premix, laboratory or competitor relationship could require your recusal?
- 49 words maximum. What shared upstream dependency most often defeats a two-supplier resilience claim?
