Americas Regional Finance Operations Director mandate in New York, United States

Confidential Americas Regional Finance Operations Director in New York, United States, reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer. Permanent Regional & Global Finance Leadership appointment at Senior Director level, an ongoing appointment; full time.

The mandate

The Americas Regional Finance Operations Director will own reliable finance execution and service relationships across countries with different calendars, currencies and operating conditions. The permanent task is to make regional exposure visible while keeping process, service and country accountabilities distinct.

During the first 100 days, the director will validate the service perimeter, critical close and cash dependencies, retained work and leadership coverage. By month six, a regional operating review should connect service results to accounting and business consequence. By month twelve, recurrent failures, unmanaged local workarounds and single-person dependencies should be reduced.

The director leads regional finance operations, its approved budget, work allocation and performance consequences. The role may demand recovery evidence, reject unsupported service completion and recommend changes in capacity or service design. Country controllers retain statutory ownership; global process leaders own enterprise standards; formal policy decisions remain with authorised controllers.

Measures will include first-time-right quality, aged exposure, close impact, cash effect, retained effort and recurrence. A closed ticket or low unit cost is not success if work moves to country finance or reappears next cycle. The leader will force root-cause choices across organisational boundaries.

Regional operations will maintain a demand-and-consequence ledger showing where requests originate, which are avoidable and who bears response cost. This allows capacity to reflect predictable peaks and helps the director challenge upstream behaviours that repeatedly consume shared resources while appearing outside finance-operations measures.

The enduring result should be capable regional leaders, explicit escalation and resilient peak-cycle coverage. Finance operations must improve without becoming dependent on New York relationships or constant executive intervention.

The director will run quarterly cross-border service reviews using sampled cases rather than aggregate averages alone. These will test whether ownership was clear at first contact, whether remediation addressed cause and whether market teams could reproduce closure evidence. Findings will inform capacity, leader objectives and process-owner priorities.

Regional leaders will also maintain explicit continuity cover for close, payment and cash decisions. Deputies must demonstrate authority and evidence access during live cycles; being named on a succession chart is insufficient. Any market unable to operate during a key absence receives a time-bound capability response.
