The mandate

A field robot crossed an obsolete exclusion boundary after a route policy was reused in an orchard whose access lanes and seasonal worker patterns had changed. Local supervisors stopped the unit before injury or crop application. The autonomy head resigned when review showed inconsistent field maps, implement states, worker-presence assumptions and approval evidence across the fleet.

The interim must mobilise within three weeks for nine months, leading route containment, field-context reconciliation, harvest readiness, two operating cycles and successor induction. At handover, every deployed mission must resolve field and season, mapped boundary, crop task, robot and implement configuration, weather and terrain constraint, worker and animal controls, route policy, supervisor release, intervention and return. The successor must command unseen shifted-boundary and disconnected-fleet exercises and accept residual mapping, supplier and seasonal-workforce limitations.

The authority may suspend missions, quarantine maps or policies, narrow operating envelopes, require field witnessing, direct the approved US$19 million recovery and appoint temporary control owners. Agronomists approve crop treatment; safety leaders approve protection; field supervisors release work. The interim cannot authorise chemical use, waive safeguards, acquire land, dismiss permanent staff or exceed spending delegation.

Yield optimisation, agronomic model development and broad farm-connectivity renewal are outside scope. The leader may require reliable position, implement and worker-presence evidence but cannot represent autonomy control as agricultural or machinery certification. Recovery is bounded to safe mission definition, release, monitoring and intervention across the current specialty-crop robot fleet.

What you will own

  • Reconstruct affected missions across field, map, season, crop task, robot, implement, route policy, release, intervention and return.

  • Govern recovery against released missions, boundary integrity, intervention quality, seasonal training and recurrence evidence.
  • Transfer command through harvest cycles and successor acceptance of maps, connectivity, equipment and workforce limitations.

Candidate qualifications

  • Held executive agricultural robotics, autonomous equipment or off-road vehicle safety authority in live seasonal operations.
  • Reconstructed route and task evidence across field maps, robot embodiment, implement, weather, workers and supervisor release.
  • Suspended autonomy when changing terrain, crop stage, access or workforce presence invalidated a learned operating envelope.
  • Worked with agronomists and safety professionals without treating route completion as approval for crop or chemical action.
  • Governed degraded connectivity and local intervention across distributed sites, seasonal teams and proprietary robot fleets.
  • Handed recovered field autonomy to permanent leadership through live harvest and adversarial map-change exercises.

Non-negotiables

  • Available within three weeks for exclusive Buenos Aires leadership and extensive travel to operating farms during harvest.
  • Has governed autonomous equipment outdoors under changing field and human conditions; indoor robotics alone is insufficient.
