Confidential mandate
Interim Chief Compliance Officer — Capital Markets Control
Urgent / Replacement
A late market-abuse escalation has resulted in executive suspension, requiring an interim compliance chief to restore surveillance governance, close regulatory commitments and establish independent succession evidence.
The mandate
A potentially coordinated trading pattern was escalated weeks after surveillance first generated related alerts, and the compliance chief has been suspended during review. Front-office activity remains open, but alert prioritisation, conflict decisions and regulator communication now require independent executive accountability.
The interim must start within fifteen days and serve for eleven months. A permanent appointment process begins after the surveillance lookback is complete, with a six-week overlap included in the fixed term and no expectation of conversion.
Handover requires the lookback to be accepted by independent assurance, severe surveillance gaps remediated, alert ageing within risk tolerance for two quarters, conflicts recertified and the successor to chair one regulatory engagement. All open investigations must carry traceable rationale and next actions.
The interim can halt trading activity within existing policy, require enhanced review, change alert priority and spend up to ₹5 crore on remediation. New business restrictions lasting over thirty days, client exits, regulator settlements, permanent leadership appointments and surveillance-platform replacement need committee or board approval.
The mandate excludes defence of individual employees, redesign of trading strategy and prosecution of suspected misconduct. Legal and Human Resources retain those matters, while Technology owns platform execution subject to compliance acceptance.
Why this seat is open
The delayed escalation damaged confidence in the current second-line chain. Deputies participated in the alert decisions now under independent examination. The board therefore needs a temporary compliance officer who can preserve market activity without compromising the lookback or closure standard.
What you will own

- Reconcile every aged alert to its investigation, escalation, closure rationale and retained source material.
- Submit regulator updates that distinguish completed actions, operating evidence, residual gaps and accepted risk.
- Commission independent assurance over the lookback and close severe exceptions before seeking committee acceptance.
- Transfer the investigation inventory, scenario catalogue, restriction decisions, conflict register and regulatory calendar to the successor.
