Launch-Cryogen Supply Board Adviser

The mandate

The proposed manifest brings several launch families into overlapping campaign windows, but the board pack converts supplier nameplate and tank volume directly into launches supported. Usable cryogenic supply depends on production uptime, purity, tanker cycles, unloading slots, storage heel, boil-off, conditioning, transfer demand, rehearsal use, scrub and recycle behaviour and commodity-specific safety constraints. Helium availability follows another chain. Directors need independent challenge before accepting a calendar whose consumable assumptions have not survived concurrency.

Three campaign-side examinations anchor the service: one at industrial-gas supply, one at storage and transfer, and one during an authorised launch campaign. Their evidence is brought to four committee meetings across the five-month decision window. Within the four-day allowance retained each month, the adviser reconstructs the commodity balance, stress-tests the current concurrency or scrub question, prepares privately with the chair and closes the resulting challenge. Sanitised mission demand and authorised safety material arrive through one secretariat. A material change to manifest or supplier capacity is acknowledged inside one business day and answered in writing inside three, while countdown support remains expressly excluded.

Five months span baseline reconstruction, an integrated campaign simulation and the manifest decision. The appointment closes with commodity balance ranges, constraint maps, scrub-and-recycle cases, capacity choices, conflicts and board conditions. Renewal requires a new board resolution around a changed question. A weather scrub, supplier outage or deferred mission does not prolong the term automatically, and compensation is unrelated to launches achieved or infrastructure approved.

The adviser has no line authority and carries no executive, launch-command or safety responsibility for commodity specification, plant operation, tanker dispatch, storage acceptance, transfer, countdown, scrub, range priority, mission assurance, supplier award or capital sanction. Authorised operators and launch customers retain those decisions. The adviser may test whether physical supply supports a manifest and recommend conditions, but cannot approve propellant readiness.

Industrial-gas, tanker, storage, launch-provider, mission-customer, engineering, infrastructure and investor relationships must be disclosed. A conflict involving a commodity or campaign requires full case recusal. Restricted mission and facility information remains within approved spaceport systems. The adviser cannot condition recommendations on equipment, gas, engineering or follow-on advisory sales and cannot use future launch information for outside commercial advantage.

Why the board wants this voice

Mission teams understand their own load and suppliers understand contracted tonnes, while the spaceport board must govern the interference between campaigns. The missing perspective joins molecule, tanker, tank, transfer system and countdown time. An independent adviser with launch-consumables experience can expose whether scrubs, boil-off and concurrent conditioning consume the margin before the manifest does.

What you will own

• Reconcile oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and helium need by campaign phase, complex, conditioning cycle, rehearsal, launch and recycle.

• Shape cases for one scrub, repeated recycle, tanker interruption, plant outage and simultaneous complex demand.
• Compare inventory, tanker, on-site production, supplier diversity and infrastructure choices by time to protect the manifest.
• Give the chair commodity balances, constraint maps, shock results, decision conditions, conflicts and future challenge agenda.

Candidate qualifications

• Held senior launch-base, propulsion-ground, industrial-gas or cryogenic-consumables authority across multiple campaign types.
• Has planned oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen or helium supply through concurrent countdowns, scrubs and recycle operations.
• Understands cryogenic production, purity, tanker operations, storage heel, boil-off, conditioning, transfer and campaign sequencing.
• Can challenge manifest feasibility without assuming plant, transport, safety, launch-command, range or mission authority.
• Has advised high-hazard operating boards using sanitised evidence without weakening restricted programme boundaries.
• Brings independence from industrial-gas suppliers, launch providers, tanker operators, storage contractors and equipment vendors.

Non-negotiables

• Can attend four Kourou committee sessions and three supplier, storage or campaign observations within five months.
• Brings direct launch cryogen or closely comparable campaign-critical industrial-gas depth; commodity procurement alone is insufficient.
• Will disclose gas, tanker, storage, launch, engineering, customer and investor relationships before evidence access.
• Accepts no commodity-release, plant, tanker, transfer, safety, countdown, range, award, capital or board-voting authority.
