The mandate

Anomaly registers, inspection schedules and intervention planning are managed separately by asset, engineering and operations teams. Competing spreadsheets use different degradation assumptions, and intervention slots are allocated before anomaly consequence is reconciled. The role reports to the integrity vice president and must deliver coordinated processes ahead of the annual technical-condition submission and next marine campaign.

The interim assumes the operating integrity seat within one week for eleven months, covering register reconciliation, condition submission, two vessel campaigns, four emergency exercises and permanent succession. A new anomaly, missed inspection, barrier impairment, monitoring loss, repair delay or operating-envelope change becomes a single governed integrity event. Six closing weeks are held for successor induction and independent campaign command.

Handover requires one consequence-ranked register, defensible degradation and uncertainty fields, inspection and monitoring strategies, interim operating conditions, intervention decisions, marine-capacity logic, repair evidence and named residual-risk owners. The successor must respond to an unseen loss of monitoring on a high-consequence flowline during vessel unavailability and reach an accountable operate, constrain or shut-in decision without the interim.

The leader may impose temporary operating constraints inside approved envelopes, reorder inspection and vessel work, stop activity lacking barrier evidence, replace recovery leads and deploy NOK920 million of authorised intervention funds. Accountable technical authorities approve engineering; offshore installation managers retain statutory command; the risk committee accepts material residual exposure. Permanent repair scope beyond delegation and life-extension choices require board approval.

Reservoir strategy, well intervention outside integrity containment, decommissioning selection, regulatory advocacy, insurance claims, contractor tender award and new-field design are excluded. The interim may make uncertainty explicit but cannot declare technical fitness, suppress a reportable impairment, direct investigators or keep production online because an intervention slot has already been purchased.

Why this seat is open

The integrity executive began medical leave after a vessel discovery contradicted the prioritised register and before the annual technical submission. Immediate cover must reconcile exposure and govern two scarce marine campaigns, while the permanent appointee is selected and tested against a live anomaly decision.

• Rank uncertainty and consequence across flowlines, risers, structures, controls and safety-critical subsea functions.
• Sequence vessel, ROV, specialist and repair capacity against risk reduction, weather windows and fallback monitoring.
• Set event governance for new damage, overdue inspection, barrier impairment, data loss and repair non-conformance.
• Protect technical-authority independence while forcing timely operate, constrain, inspect, repair or shut-in decisions.
• Lead four exercises involving monitoring loss, vessel delay, escalating degradation and simultaneous barrier impairment.
• Transfer integrity command after the successor independently resolves an unfamiliar high-consequence subsea anomaly.

Candidate qualifications

• Held senior offshore integrity or operations authority across mature subsea production systems and marine campaigns.
• Reconciled materially conflicting anomaly registers, degradation assumptions and inspection deferrals into time-bounded risk-based intervention action.
• Allocated scarce vessel and intervention capacity without substituting commercial commitment for technical evidence.
• Worked effectively with accountable technical authorities, installation managers, regulators and independent assurance.
• Imposed proportionate operating constraints while preserving formal fitness, investigation and residual-risk decisions.
• Handed integrity command through a live vessel campaign and independent loss-of-monitoring emergency exercise.
