Enterprise Performance Management and Planning Analytics Vice President mandate in Glasgow, United Kingdom

Confidential Enterprise Performance Management and Planning Analytics Vice President in Glasgow, United Kingdom, reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer. Permanent FP&A appointment at Vice President level, an ongoing appointment; full time.

The mandate

The Vice President will lead enterprise performance management as a decision system joining ambition, planning, measurement, intervention and learning. Individual components operate, but their definitions and rhythms do not always form a coherent loop. Targets can become detached from forecasts, actions from performance explanations and lessons from the next allocation cycle.

This permanent role owns EPM policy, analytical architecture, performance forums and the portfolio of planning analytics. It will clarify the distinct purpose of target, plan, forecast and scenario; connect measures to decisions; and ensure that action outcomes feed back into assumptions instead of disappearing after meeting minutes close.

The Vice President can set standards, approve analytical methods, redesign finance-led forums and require action traceability. Target approval and operating performance remain with established executives. The role creates the evidence and governance that make those accountabilities meaningful, but does not become a shadow operating office.

First-year progress will move from system diagnosis to redesigned performance loops, two advanced analytical use cases and an effectiveness review. Success will appear as faster intervention, fewer contradictory versions of performance and visible learning incorporated into subsequent forecasts and resource choices.

What you will own

  • Define the purpose and relationship of target, plan, forecast, scenario, actual and committed action across executive governance.
  • Map recurring performance forums to decisions, evidence, authority, escalation and follow-through, removing duplicated review cycles.
  • Establish a controlled measure architecture that links outcomes, drivers, constraints and actions without uncontrolled metric proliferation.
  • Create action tracking that records expected financial effect, owner, due date, status, realised movement and learning.
  • Sponsor two planning-analytics use cases selected for material decision value, demonstrable evidence and feasible adoption.
  • Introduce performance reviews that separate variance fact, causal interpretation, risk, option and accountable decision.
  • Build feedback from actions and forecast error into assumption standards, resource allocation and future target calibration.
  • Develop an EPM leadership bench covering governance, analytics, business partnering and model stewardship.

Candidate qualifications

  • At least 18 years in FP&A, enterprise performance management or decision support, including Vice President-level leadership.
  • Evidence of joining planning and performance routines into a feedback loop that measurably changed action timing or outcomes.
  • Broad expertise in measure architecture, forecast governance, driver analytics, action tracking, scenarios and executive forums.
  • A case where you clarified conflicting target and forecast purposes and restored unbiased decision support.
  • Experience selecting analytics use cases for decision value rather than novelty, with adoption and benefit evidence.
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline governance while preserving challenge, control and accountable ownership.
  • A record of developing senior finance leaders across analytical and business-facing disciplines.

Working terms and boundaries

  • This ongoing appointment is reviewed after the EPM diagnosis, forum reset, use-case adoption and first-year effectiveness assessment.
  • Policy, analysis and finance-led governance are included; target approval and operating management stay with named executives.
  • Hybrid presence will focus on executive performance forums, use-case adoption and quarterly learning sessions.
  • Analytical outputs cannot replace accountable management decisions or obscure the difference between target and unbiased forecast.
  • Year-one completion requires an operated feedback loop, two adopted use cases, evidenced action outcomes and succession depth.
