A fabless chip company needs a four-month supplier-resilience plan covering foundry, substrate, assembly, test and critical IP dependencies before its next production allocation cycle and customer commitments.

The mandate

The defined problem is that supplier risk is recorded by vendor, while product continuity depends on linked foundry, mask, IP, substrate, assembly and test paths. The current register cannot predict which disruption stops revenue.

The deliverable is a product-to-supply dependency graph, quantified exposure baseline, recovery scenarios, contract and inventory actions, qualification backlog and board resilience plan.

Milestone one arrives 15 October 2026 with verified dependency graph; milestone two on 30 November with scenario exposure and response options; milestone three on 15 January 2027 with supplier-agreed actions, qualification sequence and accepted board plan.

The Supply Resilience Council accepts when ninety-five percent of forecast revenue maps to complete paths, the top twenty failures have time-to-impact and recovery estimates, engineering validates alternatives, and finance approves inventory and qualification economics.

The company provides bills of material, forecasts, agreements, yields, cycle times, inventory, qualification status and supplier introductions. Engineering assigns product owners empowered to confirm substitutability.

Why this is external work

Procurement sees contractual vendors while engineering holds dependency knowledge in specialist teams. An independent semiconductor team can connect technical substitutability with commercial exposure. The work is a finite pre-allocation risk intervention, not outsourced supply management.

What you will own

  • Build revenue-linked supply paths through foundry, materials, packaging and test.
  • Validate hidden IP, mask, tooling and qualification dependencies for milestone one.
  • Model time-to-impact under twenty single and correlated failure scenarios.
  • Test recovery options for technical feasibility, capacity and lead time.
  • Prioritise inventory, contract, redesign and second-source actions.
  • Sequence qualification work against product and allocation calendars.
  • Present the milestone-three board plan with funded owners and triggers.

Candidate qualifications

  • 22–28 years in semiconductor supply, operations, product or risk leadership.
  • Direct responsibility for continuity across foundry and OSAT ecosystems.
  • Experience mapping product revenue to multi-tier technical dependencies.
  • Evidence of qualifying an alternate source before a constrained allocation cycle.
  • Strong knowledge of yields, cycle times, masks, substrates and test capacity.
  • Senior credibility with engineering, suppliers and finance.

  • No brokerage or sourcing commission from semiconductor suppliers.
  • Client-approved secure handling of product and supplier information.
  • Director participation in all top-twenty scenario reviews.
  • Supplier claims require engineering or documentary corroboration.
