Indigo Policy Brief: the case for a developer's finance chief, written as a board paper

Indigo Policy Brief combines the Signature collection's Policy Brief composition with the Indigo palette. Its default leader is Vikram Kapoor, the fictional chief financial officer of Mridvika Habitats Limited, a listed residential developer in Pune. His arguments concern money that buyers have paid for homes not yet built: how much of it a developer should draw from project accounts, what investors should be told about bookings and how a promoter family's land should be priced. This composition is built for directors who read such arguments with a pencil in hand.

The opening page: author block first, then the lead paper

The home page opens with a compact author block ruled off beneath. His role and market sit in a small upper-case line, Vikram Kapoor's name follows in a large serif, and his headline about homebuyers' money runs underneath. A narrow portrait stands at the right.

Below it sits the paper itself, on a panel a shade darker than the page and capped by a thick violet rule. A label, Leadership paper / 01, sits above the topic, date and reading time. The headline is the title of his lead essay, A developer's cash belongs to its projects first, set larger than anything else on the site. An Abstract strip carries his standfirst on RERA's 70 per cent rule, followed by a single link, Read the full paper. On a phone the portrait shrinks beside his name and the Abstract label stacks above its text.

Figures, fields of practice and further reading

Under the paper, a band headed Experience in figures shows three measures in large numerals: ₹4,120 crore of pre-sales in the year to March 2026, net debt of ₹540 crore and 34 RERA-registered projects under construction. A two-column band then pairs the label Mandate and the heading Fields of practice with his six areas, numbered 01 to 06, from designated project accounts to Audit Committee reporting for a developer.

His other essays follow as Further reading, numbered 02 and 03 with their summaries. The page then carries his thesis and four proof points, his directorships and training beside a quotation from his Audit Committee chair, and a closing contact panel.

Inner pages in the order a search partner checks them

Profile begins at a sub-registrar's counter in Pune and moves through audit, credit rating, toll-road lending and an NBFC's developer book. Expertise sets out five areas in numbered order. Impact holds four decisions and their costs: ₹310 crore left in project accounts, NBFC debt repaid through a placement that diluted the founder, a family land deal re-priced and refunds offered to delayed buyers in Thane. The journal index marks its title with a violet bar, and each essay opens on a tinted panel with a byline and standfirst.

The career page, A paper on my career scope, places each of five appointments in a bordered box under a tinted header numbered Appointment 1 onwards. The readiness page, The board appointment paper, sets his contribution beside the committee matrix and his time commitment, then pairs judgement examples and first-year approach with board exposure and governance learning, including his IICA databank registration and twenty-eight available days.

Why Indigo suits a developer's finance chief

Indigo sets deep aubergine type on a pale lavender ground, with mauve panels and a strong violet accent for rules, labels and numerals. A residential developer's CFO writes for readers who distrust promotion: Audit Committee chairs, rating analysts, bank credit committees and institutional shareholders voting on a related-party resolution. Property marketing in India leans towards gold and glossy renderings; a muted violet page signals the opposite intention, an argument about money held for buyers that is meant to be weighed.

The composition loads two typefaces. Source Serif 4 carries headlines, the abstract and essay prose. IBM Plex Mono sets labels, navigation and supporting text, so crore figures, dates and appointment numbers read with the exactness of a ledger.

Who else the design suits

Indigo Policy Brief suits any leader whose standing rests on a careful financial or regulatory argument: the finance head of a road or transmission developer, an infrastructure fund's chief risk officer, the treasurer of a housing finance company, or an operating executive in a regulated business who writes well. It is strongest when the first essay makes one recommendation a reader might dispute. Like every design in the collection, it serves all ten leadership roles.

Questions about this design

Why does the home page headline show an essay title rather than my name?
Your lead essay's title becomes the headline, and your name sits in the author block above it. If you have not yet written an essay, the panel uses your headline and leadership philosophy instead.
Can I show pre-sales, collections and revenue side by side?
Yes. The figures band takes up to six measures, each with a label and a line of context. Label each one precisely, such as pre-sales net of cancellations, and give its financial year.
Does the design work for a leader outside real estate?
Yes. Nothing in the palette or composition is tied to a sector. The designation and industry controls show other leaders, from any function, in the same layout.
How do I preview an India-specific story in this design?
Choose a designation and industry, then set the market control to India. Where an Indian story for that combination is still being written, the page says so plainly and shows the global version; the reset returns you to Vikram Kapoor.
