Advantage / Porcelain / The Panorama

A wide page for data that starts in a shop doorway

Porcelain / The Panorama opens with one large statement and generous space around it, leaving the detailed evidence to the pages behind. Its default leader is Nisha Rahman, the fictional chief data officer of Telagawangi Beverages Berhad, a listed Malaysian maker of canned soya and barley drinks, chilled soya milk and home water delivery. Her argument is that most of her company's data is created by a van salesperson in a shop doorway, often in exchange for cash. The opening gives that single sentence room; the record pages hold the figures a nomination committee would test.

The home page, from her headline to the shop counter

The masthead sets Nisha's name as a wordmark on the left, the page links beside it and her title at the far right, above a single dark rule. The headline 'What the counter knows before the report does' is set very large, up to about eight rem on a wide screen, with her one-line positioning in a lighter serif beneath. The landscape row divides at roughly two to one. On the left sits the first sentence of her philosophy, about the shopkeeper deciding how many cartons to take, with her board availability and a link to start a conversation. On the right, the portrait is cropped to a wide 5:3 frame anchored at the top and captioned Singapore / Southeast Asia. Three measures follow, figure first: RM868m of revenue, 61,000 outlets a month and her 74 data colleagues.

Why Porcelain suits a consumer board and its auditors

The Advantage Porcelain palette pairs a warm near-white ground and pale stone panels with deep slate ink and a walnut-brown accent kept for numbers, links and the career line. It reads like good stationery rather than a dashboard, which suits a leader whose case rests on records keyed into handhelds in hot shop fronts. The code loads Source Serif 4 for the headline, the philosophy quotation and the case and appointment headings, giving long ringgit figures a steady shape. Manrope, a plain sans-serif, carries navigation, measure labels, record facts and the committee table. Committee members reading between papers get strong contrast and no decorative colour competing with the numbers.

Without a career rail, her practices arrive sooner

The Panorama can show a scrolling rail of career milestones when short career summaries exist. Nisha's six appointments live only in her full chronology, so the home page moves from the measures to 'A broader perspective.', one line listing her five practices, from route-day forecasting to retailer data sharing, linked to Expertise. Her thesis follows, then three paragraphs running from her remit to the 412 vans and their cash, and a grid of proof points: a declined ordering module, coded bonus cartons and household records taken off drivers' phones. A colleague's quotation and her degree precede the closing invitation.

Profile, Expertise, Impact and Contact

Profile gives the biography a wide column against a narrower portrait, so the story of a 1997 clipboard in Johor Bahru provision shops has room to run. Her full philosophy, measures, credential and three endorsements follow: her head of van sales, a water distributor and her former commercial director in Jakarta. Expertise numbers five areas, each with its own boundary, such as declining to seek competitors' prices from shared distributors. Impact sets out three numbered decisions, each naming who disagreed, the cost accepted and the correction she would now make. Contact places her narrative beside a final portrait and asks first how a company reaches its customers.

A walnut line through six appointments, and a two-level board page

Career begins with six date ranges as anchor links, each tall enough to tap on a phone, so a search partner can jump from the retail-audit panel of 1997 to the chief data officer role of 2022. Each appointment hangs from a vertical accent line with a round marker, then gives sector, ownership, scale, reporting line, team and budget before the mandate, outcomes and reason for the move. Board Readiness opens with two columns: her contribution beside her twenty-four days and the seat she seeks. Below, a wider column carries her judgement examples, first year, conflicts and independence; a narrower one holds the committee table, two labelled exposures and a note that the Indian databank does not apply in Malaysia or Singapore.

Who else the Porcelain Panorama suits

It suits data, finance and risk executives in packaged goods, grocery, distribution and franchised services across Southeast Asia, especially first-time non-executive candidates: the open home page states one idea, and the record pages keep every date and relationship checkable.

Questions about this design

Why does Nisha's site use ringgit and Malaysian law?
Her company is listed in Kuala Lumpur and trades mainly in Peninsular Malaysia, so figures are in ringgit and her data-protection work refers to Malaysia's personal data law in general terms. A leader elsewhere should substitute the currency, regulators and governance code that apply.
Can a data leader without a large technology programme use this design?
Yes. Nisha's strongest evidence is a declined software module, a slower handheld screen and a transfer of household records. The record pages reward decisions with a stated cost, a named objection and a dated result.
How does the Panorama present a candidate who has never been a director?
Through exact labels. Nisha's readiness page records presenting to her company's Audit and Risk Management Committee and, earlier, reporting to it, with zero directorships, and explains why she would join rather than chair a committee.
Does the wide 5:3 portrait crop suit every photograph?
It suits portraits with the face in the upper part of the frame, because the crop is anchored at the top. On a phone the row stacks and the portrait is limited in height, so check both widths before publishing.
