Advantage / Indigo / The Card

A calling card for a marketer whose evidence is the price she refused

Indigo / The Card introduces Yuelan Shaoqiu, chief marketing officer of a fictional Nanchang pastry maker with 118 company shops, 54 franchised county-town shops and a membership programme of 1.1 million active buyers. Her case for a board seat rests on three decisions that cost revenue: a declined livestream price, a withheld sugar claim and an ended member coupon. This Advantage composition opens like a personal card, then places the decisions within one click of the introduction, so a chair can test whether the restraint she describes is real.

The card opens with a sentence about loyal customers

The Home page sets the portrait inside a bordered panel offset by a pale, almost white block, her role caption beneath it, and the name, headline and location on the right. Yuelan's headline is a commercial principle rather than a slogan: loyal customers should never find they paid the highest price. Because the composition gives that one line generous DM Serif Display type beside her photograph, the claim becomes the first thing a reader must weigh. A board-availability note and a Contact link complete the panel. On a phone, the identity text sits above the portrait inside the same frame, so the sentence still arrives before the face.

Approach and practice areas share a single row

Beneath the card, the layout pairs a large quotation headed My approach with a narrow list headed At the intersection of. Yuelan's approach explains why she would lose a sale before teaching members that her own shop is the dear place to buy. The list beside it names her five practices, from channel price architecture to county-town franchising. For a consumer marketer, a belief about fairness means little unless it shows up in pricing, claims and membership. Each list item is expanded on the Expertise page into a numbered narrative of method and limits, including the advertising-law constraints she works within.

Three figures, then decisions that open in place

A band of measures follows: RMB1.08 billion revenue in 2025, 172 pastry shops split between company-operated and franchised, and 1.1 million active members over twelve months. Below it, the heading Work worth discussing introduces three numbered disclosure panels. Each closed panel shows only its title, such as declining a season-low livestream price, and opens into the full case without leaving the page. A nomination chair can open the coupon case, read the 140,000 members it lost and the margin it recovered, then close it. The Impact page repeats them as continuous reading.

Why indigo and these typefaces suit a pastry brand's board conversation

The indigo palette sets near-black violet ink on a pale lilac ground, with a deeper violet accent for rules, numbers and links. It recalls the blue-and-white porcelain motifs on Hemeiqiao's packaging without imitating them, and it avoids the warm bakery tones that would make a governance page look like a shop window. DM Serif Display gives headings and the approach quotation a slightly formal, printed quality. Manrope, a clear sans-serif, carries captions, labels and navigation, where its open shapes keep RMB figures and dates easy to scan. The masthead centres an uppercase, widely spaced wordmark, which reinforces the calling-card feeling across all seven pages.

Career cards and a framed board brief

The Career page begins with a dark heading panel carrying Yuelan's own title for the record, then gives each of her six appointments its own shaded card. A card holds dates, title, employer, the company's sector, ownership, revenue and headcount, her reporting line, team, budget, mandate, outcomes and a narrative. In sequence, they trace agency work, supermarket biscuits and online tea gifts into pastry. Board Readiness opens with a bordered summary that sets her contribution beside the committee table and her capacity facts: twenty days a year and no current directorships. Exposure, judgement examples, first-year approach and conflicts follow in a centred reading column.

Who else this design suits

Indigo / The Card works for executives whose credibility depends on decisions that look modest at first glance: a commercial director who kept list prices stable, a franchise leader who closed weak sites, a brand head who withdrew an unsupported claim. It suits leaders who want warmth in the introduction and rigour one click below it. Consumer, hospitality and specialist retail leaders will find the palette fitting; so will finance or operations executives in family-controlled companies, where a personal introduction carries weight. It suits writers less, since the home page favours cases over essays.

Questions about this design

Does the calling-card home page hide the substance?
No. Every case on the home page opens to its complete text, and the Impact, Expertise, Career and Board Readiness pages carry the full record. Yuelan's site runs to seven pages. The card is an entrance, so its headline, approach and case titles need to be precise enough to make a reader open them.
Can a marketing leader use this design without a consumer brand?
Yes. The layout serves any of the ten leadership roles. A marketing leader in financial services, healthcare or industrial goods would replace pastry prices and member coupons with that sector's decisions, keeping the same discipline: a headline that states a commercial principle and cases that record what the principle cost.
How should regulatory limits on advertising be described on a profile?
Describe the practice and the rule in general terms unless you are certain of a specific provision. Yuelan's pages explain that Chinese advertising rules prohibit superlatives and health claims for ordinary food, and that nutrition claims have conditions, without inventing clause numbers or thresholds she cannot verify.
Is Yuelan Shaoqiu a real executive?
No. Yuelan Shaoqiu, her employer, colleagues, franchise partner and earlier companies are fictional, created to demonstrate the design with a complete Advantage record. The figures are internally consistent but invented. A member's finished site would replace every detail with their own verifiable career.
