Advantage / Graphite / The Frame

A charcoal frame for a product leader who counts what protection costs

Graphite / The Frame sets its leader inside a bordered, numbered structure on a deep green-charcoal ground. Its demonstration leader is Nikhil Pethapara, a fictional chief product officer at Kanchanpeth Finance, a family-promoted gold-loan NBFC with 412 branches in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. His record turns on three uncomfortable choices: slowing an app top-up that scammers had exploited, stopping a first-loan journey he had championed and rewriting the notices that come before an auction. A layout built from registers and numbered panels suits someone whose evidence arrives as separate, costed decisions rather than one sweeping story.

What a visitor meets on Nikhil's home page

Inside a masthead boxed by a thin pale rule, the page opens with his name set large in Archivo at weight 600, and beside it his headline about families following each step of a gold loan in their own language. Below, the portrait hangs in a lighter slate mat within a bordered frame, captioned "01 / Chief Product Officer". To its right, an aside headed The practice numbers his five capabilities from 01 to 05 and ends with a Make an introduction link. Three figures follow: ₹4,860 crore of gold-loan assets, 6.1 lakh active accounts and a 46-person product team. A raised panel marked with a sage plus sign then carries his philosophy, which begins with a mother's bangles pledged to pay school fees.

The register lists three costed decisions

Beneath the philosophy, a table titled The evidence register gives each case a two-digit reference and links its title to the Impact page with a small arrow. For Nikhil the three rows read as a ledger of trade-offs: top-up holds that cut monthly app value from ₹96 crore to ₹79 crore, a self-service journey abandoned with about ₹2.6 crore of build work written off, and pre-auction reminders that reduced auctions while lengthening resolution by 19 days. The authored home text follows the register, with his thesis, three introductory paragraphs, proof points, current focus on data-protection consent notices and the directorship he would consider. A Formation column and a branch manager's quote close the record.

Why Graphite suits the people reading his record

The palette sets warm off-white type on a ground close to #1d2424, with slate surfaces for the portrait mat and panels, grey-green rules and a pale sage accent for numbers, links and the plus sign. There is no gold anywhere, and that restraint helps a lender's executive whose subject is household jewellery: the page avoids looking like an advertisement for loans. His likely readers are chairs, company secretaries and search advisers assessing a first-time independent director, who will find rupee figures and committee names set soberly. Archivo, a sturdy grotesque, carries the name, headings and figures; Jost, a geometric sans, handles navigation and body text at a size that stays legible against the dark ground.

Six numbered panels on the Career page

The Career page, headed "From the passbook printer to the pledge counter", places each appointment in a bordered panel with a 70-pixel column holding its number on a slate background. Inside, the dates, title and employer come first, then a fact list of sector, ownership, scale, employees, geography, reporting line, team and financial scope, and then his narrative. Panel 06 is a junior programmer's job at Sangrahi Softech in Ahmedabad; panel 01 is the chief product role with its ₹34 crore budget. Between them sit lending software at Patrakshar Infotech, a field-officer tablet at Shramvardhini Microfinance and collections at Tijorikhata Payments. On a phone, the number moves above the content.

Board Readiness as a ruled two-column foundation

On the Readiness page, two cells separated by a single grey-green line hold the core evidence. The left cell carries his contribution and three labelled exposures: presenting to the IT strategy committee, reporting to the risk management and audit committees on the top-up scam, and membership of an executive product approval committee that is clearly marked as management rather than board. The right cell lists the committees he would join, his capacity of 22 days and no current directorships, and the seat he is pursuing. His two judgement examples follow below a rule, then his first-year approach, the conflicts that rule out lenders and jewellers and a databank status of proficiency assessment passed.

Questions about this design

Who else is Graphite Frame suited to?
It suits leaders whose record is best read as a set of separate, documented decisions: product, technology, risk and operations executives at regulated companies, or anyone preparing for a nomination committee. The dark palette favours a reader who wants a quiet, considered page. A leader who leads with a single essay may prefer a layout that headlines writing instead.
Does the home page show the leader's name or a headline?
The Frame sets the leader's full name as the large opening heading and places the personal headline beside it. Nikhil's site also carries a separate short page heading, "The loan explained before the gold is weighed", in its metadata. Prepare both: a name that reads cleanly at display size and a headline of one sentence.
What should I prepare for the five numbered practices?
Choose four or five capabilities that a reader can tell apart. Nikhil's cover assisted counters, language, fraud, recovery and dropping planned work, and each has its own authored page section explaining who owns the underlying rule. Avoid listing generic product skills that any candidate could claim.
How should costs appear in the evidence register?
The register shows titles only, so write each title to name the decision honestly, then put the cost on the Impact page. Nikhil's cases state lost top-up value, written-off build spending and longer resolution beside the improvements. A record that shows only gains is harder for a board to trust.
