My contribution to a board
I can help directors examine the relationship between a specialist capability and the promise made to its customer. In game-language services, a count of languages can conceal different deliverables, a portfolio can imply wider responsibility and a broad testing label can hide work outside the offer. These are commercial questions with operating consequences. The board should understand whether management's proposition reflects the work it can provide and the preparation it requires from the buyer. I would use my experience to ask how the account is checked and who owns a material change, rather than edit campaign copy from the boardroom. My owned brochure error also gives me a concrete example of accepting the expense and withdrawn prospects that follow a correction. The contribution should help the board distinguish evidence of suitable demand from interest generated by an unsupported implication, while drawing on other directors' financial, operational and professional expertise. I would be particularly interested in the handover between an early proposition and a binding service commitment, where a small ambiguity can acquire greater consequence as the customer's plan develops.
Judgement in practice
01Owning the language-count implication
The six-language presentation I approved covered text and adaptation in six languages but voice in two. Its correction cost ₹28 lakh and removed ₹47 lakh of forecast bookings from the pipeline when two prospects withdrew. I retained the distinction between forecast and earned revenue and did not describe the five continuing conversations as completed sales. For directors, the question is whether management understands the implication of its combined capability claims and accepts the cost of correcting them. The example does not ask a board to define every service matrix; it asks whether the enterprise's commercial account is supported by the operating capability it represents.
02Changing campaign timing without claiming a sales uplift
The review of eighteen selected enquiries found twelve beyond the relevant language-scope decision and six still early enough to consider it. I redirected ₹38 lakh of prospective campaign authority into earlier production conversations. The observations justified examining the timing assumption; they did not establish a market-wide ratio or a causal improvement in conversion. A board should be able to see the programme's purpose, opportunity cost and unresolved outcome. I would ask whether management's measures match the buying decision it is trying to reach, while leaving the choice of individual campaigns and account activity with the responsible executives.
My first year on a board
I would begin by understanding the enterprise's actual service contribution, the customer decision it supports and the responsibilities retained elsewhere. That would include the financial model and the way management distinguishes prospective work from earned business. Through the chair and agreed board processes, I would ask to follow a small number of material propositions from early explanation into delivery commitment. The purpose would be to learn how the organisation handles scope, evidence and exceptions, not to create an informal route for staff to seek campaign approval from a director. I would compare the time required for preparation, travel and committee work with my provisional nineteen-day estimate and revisit the commitment honestly if my executive duties made it unreliable. I would also seek induction in areas where other board members have deeper expertise. A useful first year should improve my understanding of the whole enterprise before I offer strong conclusions based on the marketing language alone. Site and team engagement should illuminate the business model while preserving management's authority to run it.
Conflicts and their management
My continuing CMO role can create relationships with studios, suppliers, service partners and competing enterprises that matter to a proposed appointment. Those connections need specific review rather than a broad assurance that I can separate the roles. I would use the required disclosure and governance processes, including recusal or other restrictions where appropriate, and recognise that some conflicts may make the appointment unsuitable. Confidential client material, game assets and internal commercial plans would not become evidence I could carry into another boardroom. The experience I can share is judgement about how a proposition supports a decision, not access to information belonging to an employer or customer. I would also examine conflicts between the time demands of the two roles. An apparent annual capacity figure can conceal urgent periods when both enterprises need attention, so the commitment should be tested against realistic preparation and attendance rather than optimistic averages.
My independence statement
I have no personal equity in Nevqatri and no current statutory directorship. Those facts do not establish independence for a proposed company. Family, commercial, professional and other relevant relationships would need a current company-specific review under the applicable requirements. I would provide the necessary disclosures and update them as circumstances change. This illustrative statement does not replace a nomination process, formal declarations or appropriate advice, and a marketing title does not by itself establish eligibility for a particular committee or appointment.
Governance learning and readiness
IICA Independent Directors’ Databank: Registered
My fictional IICA registration dates from May 2026. The proficiency assessment remains unfinished, with no exemption asserted. Registration is therefore recorded as preparation in progress rather than a completed qualification. An actual appointment would require the applicable steps and review before proceeding. No private platform score or assessment result is made public through this demonstration, and the profile does not imply that executive experience automatically satisfies a formal requirement.
- My preparation focuses on collective board responsibility, conflicts, financial accountability and the difference between an executive recommendation and a director's independent judgement. I want to understand how customer promises become enterprise commitments without treating the board as an additional approval desk for every campaign.
- I am learning the applicable independence framework and the responsibilities of committees within their charters. Listed-company expectations, including relevant committee and directorship limits, would need current review for the proposed appointment. I do not offer an automatic chair-readiness claim or a universal interpretation of governance requirements.

Board discussions on service proposition and marketing investment
2021–present
I have presented portfolio-scope corrections, the distinction between language and functional testing, and changes to campaign timing. These were executive accounts of the work my function controlled, including limitations and prospective expenditure. I did not attend as a statutory director or committee member. The discussions required me to explain the commercial implication without treating a campaign result as evidence for a technical service the enterprise had not established.

The seat I am pursuing
I am considering an initial non-executive contribution with a manageable remit, clear induction and complementary board skills. I do not present myself as ready to chair a statutory audit or remuneration committee, and any participation would depend on the relevant requirements, charter and board assessment. I would want a company that values candid discussion of an unsuitable prospect or unsupported claim, rather than asking a director's reputation to make the offer appear stronger. A board should be able to question how the enterprise earns demand without becoming the account team. My fit would be strongest where that distinction is understood and where commercial ambition can be examined alongside delivery responsibility. Before accepting a role I would need to complete the applicable preparation, establish the independence position and confirm that the time commitment is credible. The website is an introduction to the judgement I might contribute, not a completed nomination assessment or a promise that every enterprise would benefit from the same approach.
