My contribution to a board
I would help a board examine the commitments hidden inside a product's apparently simple actions. A partial sale can leave continuing stock obligations; a saved item can be mistaken for a reservation; a suggested alternative can appear to carry approval that nobody qualified has supplied. My contribution would be to connect those customer meanings with the operating and commercial account management proposes. I would not design individual screens from the boardroom or approve materials for another company's customers. Financial, legal and technical colleagues would remain essential to collective judgement. Before applying my experience, I would learn how the enterprise earns revenue and which obligations it actually holds. The useful question is where a product promise creates a responsibility that its design, service or reported measures have failed to make visible, including where my own preference for simplicity needs challenge.
Judgement in practice
01Ask who owns the remainder after the celebrated transaction
Our eight-lot programme contained 2,400 square metres, with 1,640 sold and 760 still listed at cutoff. It followed forty buyer proposals,26 seeking part of a lot and 14 the whole, and cost ₹58 lakh. I would ask a board whether management has accounted for the unsold balance, the seller's agreement and the extra operating work created by partial transactions. The sold quantity did not establish causal uplift or avoided waste. A director can examine whether the proposition has an owner for its continuing obligations without managing cartons or deciding material suitability. I would also preserve the case for whole-lot selling where it remains the more appropriate agreement, rather than treat flexibility as a universal improvement without cost.
02Separate the action count from the commitment it represents
Thirty-nine of sixty task participants expected saving a listing to hold stock, while twenty-one understood a shortlist. We spent ₹31 lakh distinguishing saving, requests and seller confirmation. The later fifty-request account contained 34 confirmed holds,10 declines and 6 pending requests. I would ask directors whether the company's product measures preserve those stages or present interest as a completed transaction. A confirmation needs the actual quantity, period and conditions supported by the service; product copy alone cannot create the seller's commitment. The research did not establish a population-wide misunderstanding rate or a measured revenue benefit. Oversight should connect what the customer believes with what the enterprise and its partners have actually agreed to provide.
03Keep discovery from borrowing the authority of approval
The 120 proposed alternatives included 68 requiring qualified specification review,34 with clear differences and 18 lacking necessary records. A ₹49 lakh programme retained explicit buyer-led review and removed automatic replacement. I would ask a board where a recommendation becomes a consequential promise and which evidence supports that transition. Similarity can reduce discovery effort while leaving the substantive decision unfinished. The review categories were not approved substitutes or recovered orders. Directors should see the commercial friction and the responsible approval route together, with material specialists and the actual project owners retaining their decisions. A useful product perspective challenges unnecessary administration while recognising the moments at which an informed choice is part of the service itself.
My first year on a board
I would start by learning the enterprise's transaction economics, financial reporting and governance obligations. With induction agreed through the chair, I would follow one customer commitment from the product proposition into the operating process and the management account. I would listen to partners and frontline leaders as well as product colleagues, because they often carry the consequences of an apparently small feature. Assessment preparation and any applicable appointment requirements would need completion. Committee work should follow the charter and demonstrated fit, with no assumption that a product title confers chair readiness. At the first annual review I would ask whether my questions improved the board's understanding of consequential choices, whether I respected management's role in execution and whether I remained willing to reconsider my own preferred interpretation when other directors supplied a stronger financial or operating account.
Conflicts and their management
Sellers, project buyers, inspection and coordination providers, technology partners and Veqmari's ownership vehicles may overlap with a prospective company. Employer consent and a relationship review would precede confidential discussions. Before any appointment, qualified advisers would examine the actual independence position under the Companies Act, relevant SEBI LODR obligations, limits on directorships and the proposed committee responsibilities. The absence of personal equity does not remove employment interests or make a recurring conflict manageable by default. Twenty-four provisional days must cover preparation, learning, travel and exceptional demands alongside my current role. Private seller terms, buyer specifications and transaction histories would stay within authorised arrangements. I would not accept a seat whose expected value depended on passing that knowledge to another enterprise. Where repeated exclusion from central decisions would prevent a useful contribution, declining the role may be more responsible than relying on disclosure alone.
My independence statement
Employment links me with Veqmari's sellers, buyers, service providers and ownership vehicles. I have no personal shares, but the actual relationships and applicable appointment conditions still need examination. An outside role must permit consistent participation rather than repeated exclusion from central matters.

The seat I am pursuing
I am considering an initial external role where the board needs clearer judgement about product commitments and the service that supports them. Risk or customer-related committee work could be relevant after induction; I claim no chair qualification. The enterprise should explain the contribution it seeks and the financial, operating and technical expertise already around the table. I would bring a marketplace perspective without suggesting that every company should adopt the same transaction design. The May 2026 fictional registration remains separate from the unfinished proficiency assessment and from eligibility for any particular appointment. I would seek a board that welcomes learning and specific challenge rather than a generic digital credential. The role must fit the actual calendar, employer consent and relationships as well as the subject matter, so the contribution can be sustained when the questions become difficult.
