The cleaner picture had changed the work
The appeal of a cleaner archive image does not establish the purpose of the service. Operations must preserve the distinction between a faithful transfer and a separately authorised presentation choice.
I liked the demonstration. An older sequence appeared smoother and more vivid after processing, and the difference was easy to explain in a commercial conversation. I supported it as an example of what our service could do. Ravi asked which reference and authorisation supported those changes. That question made me recognise that I had evaluated the appeal of the output before establishing the purpose of the work. In an archive service, the order matters because the material entrusted to us is not ours to reinterpret by default.
