The cleaner picture had changed the work

I had supported a demonstration that made an old sequence look smoother and more vivid. It was easier to sell than a discussion about what the source actually contained. Ravi Tezqoli asked which changes the customer had authorised and which reference we were trying to preserve. The question exposed the decision I had allowed a preferred appearance to make. Our role was not to substitute the operator's taste for the work entrusted to us.

I am Harinder Qezlani, fictional COO of Tevqori Archive Services in Vadodara. We digitise moving-image collections, coordinate restoration and provide agreed custody, with 196 employees and ₹54 crore FY 26 service revenue. I lead 138 operating colleagues through five heads within ₹34 crore FY 2026–27 expense and a separate ₹5.6 crore capital programme. Customers retain ownership and the relevant rights. Qualified preservation and technical specialists decide how material can be handled and assessed; I connect those conditions with the service we promise.

My career began in reprographics in 1993. I learned to distinguish a copy that looked convincing from a record whose origin and purpose could be explained. Archive work made that distinction more consequential. A scanning timetable depends on the condition of the material, an unchanged digital file can still contain an incomplete transfer, and delivery of a copy does not settle what should happen to the original. I want the operating account to retain those obligations even when a simpler completion claim would be easier to present.

A reference before an enhancement choice

The sixty-work review produced forty-four reference-led transfers and twelve separately authorised presentation versions; four remained undecided. A ₹62 lakh programme kept the source and processing account available without claiming that a preferred appearance established historical authenticity.

Condition changed the promised timetable

A 480-carrier intake contained 360 ready for routine transfer, 84 requiring specialist preparation and 36 with incomplete identification. Replacing an unsupported eight-week promise with an agreed twelve-week programme cost ₹48 lakh. The groups described intake conditions, not completed recoveries.

An unchanged file still needed a content check

All 920 reviewed files passed comparison with their recorded transfer checksums. Content examination nevertheless cleared 892 and held 28 for correction or client review, including 20 with incomplete sound and 8 with a picture-format issue. The ₹37 lakh review did not treat bit-level consistency as evidence that the original transfer was complete.

Current focus

Connecting faithful transfer, material condition, content validation and continuing custody with a service commitment that its owners can explain.
