Durgapur headquarters and defined regional workplace programmes
Reporting to
Chief Executive Officer Joseph Qelvazri
Team
Twenty-four colleagues through three heads
Financial scope
₹5.6 crore annual marketing function expense; delivery commitments separately authorised
Mandate
Make the customer decision easier without concealing the work outside our relocation service
Outcomes
Bounded desk-count price illustrations by their actual assumptions
Added employee questions to buyer-led workplace research
Kept client technology and employment responsibilities explicit
Decisions in context
Three heads coordinate twenty-four marketing colleagues within ₹5.6 crore annual expense. Joseph receives my executive reports, and Nisha owns operating delivery. The price-illustration review required us to accept a slower answer where the simple input did not describe comparable work. The employee research required a different correction: the corporate buyer’s account could not represent every person affected by a workplace move. Both decisions changed the commercial offer without claiming that marketing had solved the underlying site or employment questions. I hold no personal equity and have no statutory directorship. My contribution to board discussions remains an executive presentation of the proposition and its evidence. A future outside role would require separate preparation and assessment, with directors examining the company’s commitments through management rather than turning the board into another campaign-approval team.
Reason for the move
Current appointment; considering marketing leadership and a prepared first outside-board contribution
Concurrent appointment
Marketing employment without statutory director status

Team
Twenty brand and client-communication colleagues
Financial scope
₹4.1 crore annual function expense; programme corrections separately approved
Mandate
Connect the promised customer outcome with the responsibility the company actually owns
Outcomes
Withdrew the wider Monday-readiness campaign claim I had approved
Separated physical handover from client technology activation
Revised the material available before an enquiry became a commitment
Decisions in context
Twenty colleagues worked within ₹4.1 crore annual function expense. In 2019 I approved a campaign that made Monday business readiness appear to follow from a completed weekend relocation. Nisha’s review of twelve programmes found nine clients ready for their defined work and three still awaiting technology activation under their own arrangements. We used ₹43 lakh and eight weeks to revise the campaign and the customer account. The change did not alter those earlier outcomes or remove the client’s responsibilities. It made the boundary available before a later customer relied on the promise. I gave up a simple headline that commercial colleagues valued because the more important task was to describe the service the company could actually deliver. Promotion later required me to carry that question across pricing tools and research-led propositions, where different kinds of evidence could be stretched in equally persuasive ways.

Mandate

Outcomes
Connected enquiry information with operating review
Separated service explanation from property and technology approvals
Built a continuing marketing account around the workplace transition
Decisions in context
I joined with sixteen colleagues and ₹2.7 crore annual function expense. Workplace relocation had a visible physical event, but the customer’s intended outcome depended on preparations before it and activities after it. I worked with operating colleagues to make enquiry information useful without pretending that the company owned every dependency. Quotations and delivery commitments retained their accountable owners, as did property permissions and client technology decisions. The work gave me a continuing responsibility for the promises around a service rather than a series of research assignments. My later Monday-readiness mistake is therefore particularly instructive: I already understood the boundary in principle, yet accepted language that crossed it when a concise commercial story seemed more compelling. Leadership required changing the review question, not merely claiming that the earlier wording had been interpreted too broadly by someone else.

Financial scope
₹1.2 crore annual function expense; clients retained publication and commercial authority
Mandate
Translate research into explanations without making respondents speak for unexamined groups
Outcomes
Preserved interview context in commercial summaries
Connected claims with the people and circumstances examined
Clarified the approval owner before research became public copy
Decisions in context
Eleven colleagues worked within ₹1.2 crore annual function expense. We helped clients turn research into an explanation they could use in a commercial decision. A vivid quotation could make a presentation memorable while obscuring who had actually been interviewed, so I learned to preserve that context beside the conclusion. The client retained publication and commercial authority; our role was to make the evidence intelligible without quietly extending its reach. I also learned that the person who could explain a service might not be the person authorised to approve the promise made about it. Moving into a relocation enterprise gave me responsibility for the continuing proposition that followed those research decisions. The later employee-interview programme returned to the same distinction: a buyer’s accurate account did not settle what another group needed to understand about the workplace change.
Reason for the move
Joined a workplace-services enterprise for continuing marketing responsibility

Mandate
Record the speaker and circumstances before summarising the finding
Outcomes
Prepared interview records under supervision
Compared buyer questions with colleagues’ concerns
Learned to preserve the limits of a concise research account
Decisions in context
I joined in June 1997 after completing communication studies the previous month. Eight people formed the research group. I prepared interview records and helped compare the questions buyers asked with concerns raised by their colleagues. I did not independently publish client findings or approve commercial claims. The work made the source of a statement part of its meaning: a useful answer from one person could not automatically stand for the experience of everyone involved. I learned to keep the circumstances attached even when a short summary was needed for a meeting. Account communication later expanded that discipline into commercial explanations, while marketing leadership made me responsible for how the company used them. The early lesson remained relevant when I asked for employee interviews alongside buyer research many years later, because the missing perspective could not be supplied by making the original summary sound more confident.
Reason for the move
Promoted into account communication

Marketing employment without statutory director status
What I am looking for next
I would consider a marketing mandate where the company wants the service promise examined together with the customer’s actual decision. The team should be able to narrow a claim, qualify an illustration or commission missing research before an attractive proposition becomes a repeated misunderstanding. I would ask how operating owners participate in the commercial account and whether clients can see their own remaining responsibilities before committing. For a first outside-board role, governance learning and appointment-specific assessment remain unfinished. Twenty-two proposed annual days must cover preparation, meetings and exceptional demands alongside executive work, with employer consent before acceptance. I would seek a chair who wants scrutiny of commercial evidence and customer commitments, without expecting a director to become the campaign owner. The contribution should help colleagues distinguish a service the company can deliver from a wider outcome that still depends on another party, and make that distinction useful to the decision rather than a qualification discovered after it.
