Elevator Job-Margin and Commercial Finance Head — Interim
Urgent / Replacement
Elevator Job-Margin and Commercial Finance Head mandate in Mumbai, India · Elevators and Building Equipment
A finance-commercial head seat requires twelve months of cover to reconcile elevator job margins, work in progress and cash decisions, establishing delegated judgement and a tested reporting operation for the permanent replacement.
The mandate
Installation job margins and cash expectations are evaluated from different versions of project progress. Work in progress, billing milestones and cost-to-complete assumptions do not consistently tell the same story. The interim will take the functional-head seat and restore commercial-finance judgement without becoming the installation director or assuming enterprise CFO authority.
Cover begins on 19 October 2026 and runs twelve months, requiring five days weekly from Mumbai and scheduled regional installation reviews. A permanent replacement search runs alongside the term. The initial priority is to reconcile agreed jobs from contract milestone through recorded cost, remaining obligation and collectible cash, identifying where apparently profitable progress conceals an unearned billing assumption.
Handover requires reproducible job-margin forecasts, evidenced WIP judgements and a credit review that understands installation and service dependencies. The successor must lead a job review, approve a delegated WIP exception and explain a changed cash forecast. The role ends with stable transfer, not physical completion of every installation or elimination of all overdue receivables.
The head may reject unsupported job forecasts, approve delegated finance entries and set credit-review priorities inside the written authority register. Contract amendments, permanent hiring and commitments above the delegated threshold need managing-director or finance-director consent. Operational milestone certification remains with authorised delivery professionals; finance cannot declare an installation complete merely to support billing.
Engineering design, sales-target ownership and replacement of the project system are excluded. The sponsor supplies authorised agreements, job records and nominated installation and service contacts. The remit suits a finance-commercial leader who understands long-cycle equipment economics and can challenge operating assumptions with evidence while preserving the boundaries of technical acceptance and commercial negotiation.
What you will own
- Decide delegated job-finance judgements from contract and delivery evidence, separating billable milestones from operational progress that does not yet create an enforceable cash expectation.
- Establish the WIP and cost-to-complete bridge, requiring owners to explain scope, remaining effort and the financial consequence of unresolved installation dependencies.
- Set margin reviews that distinguish original pricing, approved changes and execution variance, preventing a revised forecast from erasing the source of deterioration.
- Prioritise credit and collection analysis around actual milestone conditions, identifying where finance action depends on delivery evidence or a commercial decision outside the seat.
- Reallocate existing analysts toward jobs with the greatest uncertainty or exposure, recording what routine work receives less capacity and the risk accepted.
- Chair commercial-finance decisions with installation and service owners, preserving their technical sign-offs and escalating binding contract changes to authorised executives.
- Transfer the job review pack and approval register through live successor decisions, confirming ownership of unresolved WIP and cash assumptions before exit.
Candidate qualifications
- Demonstrate finance-commercial leadership in elevators, building equipment or another installation-and-service business. Explain a job-margin judgement you personally resolved, the contract and delivery evidence used and the distinction between finance approval and operational completion.
- Show technical competence in WIP and cost-to-complete forecasting. Candidates should describe an installation whose apparent progress concealed remaining financial exposure and explain how the forecast changed without inventing delivery certainty.
- Evidence working-capital and credit judgement tied to milestones. Provide a collection or billing case where the right financial response required understanding a contractual or technical prerequisite rather than merely escalating overdue days.
- Demonstrate leadership at functional-head scope, including analyst prioritisation and constructive challenge of installation and sales owners. The job does not require unsupported CFO authority or a manufacturing title that hides limited exposure to long-cycle commercial finance.
- Provide proof of durable review transfer and professional finance capability. Explain the source trail retained for job assumptions, how a successor tested a fresh exception and how unresolved conditions stayed visible. Candidates should show that a changed cost forecast could be explained without silently rewriting the original margin history or treating a commercial aspiration as an approved variation.
