Regional CFO, Media Technology mandate in Mumbai, India · Media Technology Services

Assume permanent regional CFO accountability for media technology operations, bringing rights commitments, campaign economics and international reporting into one financial leadership perimeter during an initial eighteen-month agenda supporting disciplined growth and cash conversion.

The mandate

Regional media technology operations combine subscription platforms, campaign services and contractual content access, but financial decisions are still organised by local reporting entities. A rights commitment can support several revenue streams while drawing cash long before their performance is known. The Regional CFO will connect those commitments to commercial evidence, regional funding and accountable financial reporting without obscuring the differences between the businesses.

The appointment offers open-ended permanent employment, beginning with an eighteen-month programme to establish regional finance governance. The first six months focus on commitments and commercial definitions; subsequent work improves working capital, planning and control across the entities. Finance leaders will retain local statutory responsibilities, with this executive governing the regional decisions and comparability directors need for resource deployment.

Rights expenditure requires an economic view separate from campaign billing. A contracted access fee may be payable despite weaker demand, while a service campaign may create receivables exposed to acceptance conditions or credits. The CFO must build evidence that separates committed cash, accounting expense and commercially recoverable value. Specialist legal owners will interpret rights terms; finance will make their economic consequences visible rather than assume a renewal will repair an unsupported investment case.

The role leads regional finance staffing, operating cash prioritisation and financial recommendations within the approved authority framework. Significant rights commitments, new market investment and changes to group reporting policy require the relevant executive or board approval. Editorial decisions, intellectual property opinions and advertising compliance remain outside the CFO's specialist authority, even where they materially affect the commercial scenario finance must assess.

Regional reviews should ultimately explain the value and liquidity consequences of each material rights or campaign decision before commitment. At the first-year review, cash forecasts and reporting bridges must be trusted across the entities; by eighteen months, local finance leaders should sustain the agreed standards with appropriate succession depth. The ongoing seat then owns financial stewardship as the operating portfolio and content proposition develop.

What you will own

  • Establish a regional commitments register showing rights payment schedules, campaign obligations and renewal options, reconciling commercial terms to finance records before the investment committee relies on the cash outlook.
  • Decide the finance evidence required for shared rights proposals, including use across revenue streams and downside recovery assumptions, so an entity-level budget cannot conceal a regional commitment's full economic burden.
  • Reconcile campaign revenue and collection expectations to acceptance conditions, credits and delivery evidence, exposing commercial uncertainty that a booked receivable balance alone cannot explain to regional leadership.
  • Build entity-to-region reporting bridges that distinguish genuine business mix differences from accounting or allocation inconsistencies, enabling directors to compare performance without flattening distinct media technology economics.
  • Govern regional liquidity planning with entity finance owners, documenting where local cash access restrictions or payment timing change the resources available for a proposed shared investment.
  • Challenge renewal and market expansion cases through alternative scenarios, requiring sponsors to explain which operating evidence would justify continued commitment and which adverse signals should trigger reconsideration.
  • Develop local finance leadership through commercial case reviews and controlled regional reporting ownership, creating a durable team capable of independent challenge beyond the initial integration agenda.

Candidate qualifications

  • A CFO or senior finance leadership record in media, digital services or technology-enabled commercial platforms is essential, including direct involvement in contract economics. Identify a commitment whose accounting treatment did not explain its cash or commercial exposure, and demonstrate how your financial challenge changed an executive decision before resources became irrevocably committed.
  • Technical financial reporting competence must be supported by a recognised professional finance qualification and experience reconciling multiple operating entities. Relevant evidence includes differences between local requirements and group reporting, disciplined allocation judgement and treatment of contractual obligations. Explain how you kept an economic interpretation clear without substituting financial opinion for specialist legal analysis of the underlying rights.
  • Applicants should have led working capital and forecasting decisions where revenue depends on customer acceptance, contractual credits or shared assets. Show the records used to assess collectability and scenario confidence, rather than rely on a sales forecast alone. Experience with media or digital contracts must include the personal judgement that exposed uncertainty and the operating ownership assigned to resolve it.
  • Regional leadership requires developing finance managers and maintaining constructive challenge across commercial, legal and operating executives. Provide a contested investment or renewal example, the governance route used and the outcome observed after approval. The scope demands sustained accountability across entities, including transparent escalation when a local financial preference conflicts with the region's funding or control needs.
