Please begin with the occupier or commercial question your proposed discussion needs to address. A broad description of the asset or service, the decision still open and the people responsible for it will help me judge whether my experience is relevant. An initial message should not include tenant identities, individual employee interviews, confidential lease terms or material from an unpublished transaction. If the enquiry concerns a speaking session, describe the audience and the question they need to work through rather than only the event theme. For a prospective board role, I would want to understand the ownership, business model, expected contribution and calendar before discussing fit. My proposed capacity requires employer consent and a review of the relevant relationships. A specific advisory question may call for a different form of engagement from a continuing director responsibility. I would prefer to establish that distinction early, with the scope and limits of a possible contribution clear to both sides.
