Make management explain what the asset figure cannot

I would want directors to see the service obligation behind an asset measure. A high utilisation figure can be commercially attractive and still leave a replacement promise dependent on an uncertain return. A collection event can be accurately recorded and still be the wrong event for a particular charging decision. A repair estimate can identify necessary work without establishing the customer's responsibility for its cost. My operating experience has made me attentive to those distinctions because a compact report can invite a conclusion stronger than the evidence it contains.

My current role is executive. I lead operations through five heads and present to directors through the CEO, but I do not hold a statutory appointment. In an external board role, I would need to contribute to collective oversight rather than run another service organisation. The useful contribution would be to ask whether management can explain the asset model, its obligations and the evidence for its proposed action. Finance, engineering, legal and other professional perspectives would remain necessary. I would not turn familiarity with depots and customer commitments into an assumption that every accounting or technical conclusion belonged within my authority.

The reserve decision illustrates the relationship between investment and evidence. We bought 48 units for ₹9.6 crore and accepted a lower ordinary placement percentage. That capital supported a defined purpose, but it did not establish that every later replacement would meet its condition. The review showed 43 successful callouts from 62 recorded events, with nineteen failures retained. I wanted directors to see what the investment had enabled and what it had not resolved. A purchase can be a necessary part of a capability without being proof that the capability is complete.

I would apply the same discipline to commercial treatment. The off-hire review distinguished 49 supported cases from 24 still requiring work, rather than treating every notice or every collection date identically. The return-condition review withdrew ₹9 lakh of proposed charges while retaining the necessary asset work. These decisions made parts of the company account less attractive in the immediate period. They also made the account more defensible. Oversight should be able to examine why management accepted that consequence without having to choose between an uncritical performance story and an assumption that every operating disagreement signals misconduct.

The purchase comparison raised another question: who bears the cost created by the company's choice? We accepted a ₹13 lakh capital premium for a qualified energy comparison relevant to intended customer use. We did not turn the test into a promised saving on every electricity bill. A board can ask whether the investment account recognises costs carried outside the purchasing entity and whether the customer proposition preserves the limits of the evidence. That does not make the higher-price alternative correct in every case. It makes the rationale available for challenge and later review.

Before accepting a seat, I would examine relationships through Qevthari's owners, customers, suppliers and financing counterparties, together with relevant personal connections. No personal allocation and no current directorship do not settle independence. Qualified advice would be needed for the proposed company and applicable requirements, including any relevant company-law or listing conditions. I would not share customer contracts, asset records or technical reports from my executive role as informal proof of experience. A board should benefit from the judgement developed through work without receiving material it is not entitled to hold.

My fictional IICA databank registration began in January 2026 and the proficiency assessment was passed in June 2026. Those are preparation facts, not a complete appointment decision. I provisionally reserve twenty-six days, subject to employer consent and the actual demands of induction, papers, travel and exceptional events. I would seek a first role with a clear need for asset-service judgement and a chair who expects complementary expertise to challenge each other constructively. The responsibility is to help the board make a better collective decision, including recognising when my familiar operating explanation needs to change.

On governance

I want our operating account to follow the asset through the promise the customer has actually bought. A unit on rent can look productive while its site is unsuitable, its replacement is unavailable or its return is waiting for our collection route. I ask what the contract and the physical arrangement require before treating a fleet measure as a complete explanation. That sometimes means accepting a lower utilisation figure, a higher purchase price or a charge we cannot support.

I am interested in one outside board contribution where asset services and capital discipline need to be considered together. I have no statutory seat. My fictional databank registration and assessment are complete, but suitability, independence and twenty-six provisional days of capacity still require a specific appointment review.
