The boardroom
Examine how a useful observation becomes an enterprise obligation
I would bring to a board the habit of examining how an enterprise turns observations into promises. Marketing is one place where that transformation becomes visible, but the question is wider than campaign wording. A company commits resources and accepts customer expectations on the strength of an account of what its product can do. Oversight should be able to ask whether the evidence, the named population and the promised outcome still correspond when that account reaches a decision.
The practice-score case illustrates the responsibility I mean. I approved a headline based on 80 learners whose average scenario errors fell from 12 to 7.2. The 40% relative change was valid for that exercise. We had no comparison group or workplace follow-up to support the wider meaning the headline invited. Correcting 14 assets at ₹18 lakh cost did not create a new performance result. It restored the boundary of the result we had. A board should be able to see both the earlier judgement and the correction, including the question that remained unanswered.
I would not use a board role to become a second marketing approver. Management needs room to manage, and specialists need to own the methods within their expertise. Directors can nevertheless examine how the company reviews material claims, how disagreements are resolved and how a changed assumption returns to the people who approved a commitment. A process that only records initial approval may miss the moment when an attractive interpretation is no longer supported.
Resource decisions need the same care. The 360-session pilot contained 90 distinct people, not 360. Repeated participation was useful evidence of activity, but it did not answer the reach question used to justify a ₹1.7 crore expansion. I cancelled that proposal while retaining the ₹31 lakh pilot expense. The governance account should not require the pilot to become a failure or the cancelled budget to become an invented saving. It should explain which proposition lacked support and what a revised proposal would need to establish.
My contribution would also include attention to the people absent from an apparently complete account. Three hundred nonresponses remained unknown in the survey case. Six reviewed keyboard-only paths were blocked in the showcase case. These are different issues requiring different owners, but both challenged the ease with which a smooth presentation could describe an experience more broadly than the evidence allowed. Oversight can ask whose circumstances have been examined and what management is doing about gaps without assuming that one correction settles every inclusion or evaluation question.
My experience so far is executive rather than service in a statutory directorship. Executive presentations give me experience explaining decisions, but they do not provide the collective duties or perspective of an appointment. I would need induction into the receiving enterprise's operating model, finances, sector obligations and stakeholder relationships. I would expect to learn from colleagues with financial, legal, people and sector expertise, and to recognise when my commercial background is insufficient to lead an enquiry. Risk or strategy committee membership could be considered in context; I do not assume readiness to chair a committee.
Independence and capacity require concrete review. Tazvuri's ownership includes an employee trust of which I am a beneficiary, alongside founders and early investors. I would disclose that interest and relevant client or partner connections before receiving private papers. Qualified advice should assess the proposed appointment under applicable requirements. Employer consent and 20 provisional days must cover preparation and exceptional demands as well as scheduled meetings. June 2026 fictional IICA registration remains accompanied by an incomplete assessment and no claimed exemption.
The board service I would seek is one in which careful questions help the enterprise make better-defined decisions while leaving responsibility with its proper owners. I would want uncertainty recorded clearly enough that later evidence can change an earlier view. My own cases contain revisions because judgement develops through correction as well as initial choice. A board should be able to examine that development without requiring every decision to be presented as an uninterrupted success.
On governance
I want the commercial account of a learning product to say what people practised, what was observed and what remains unknown about their work afterwards. A repeat visit can indicate interest without adding a new person. A favourable survey can describe its respondents without speaking for everyone who stayed silent. These distinctions make the proposition more useful to a buyer because they reveal the work still needed around the software. My role is to keep that work visible when a shorter headline would be easier to sell.

I would consider a first outside board role where commercial claims and customer adoption deserve careful scrutiny. I have no statutory directorship. Fictional IICA registration began in June 2026; the proficiency assessment remains incomplete and no exemption is claimed. Twenty provisional days would require employer consent, relationship review and a realistic allowance for preparation before any appointment.
