The cash a claimant can use before the file is finished
I examine the difference between paying an established portion of a loss and resolving every issue in the claim. The session follows a commercial property example through evidence, authority, member communication and subsequent review. I explain why an end-to-end settlement objective can conceal an opportunity for earlier action, and why simply instructing handlers to pay faster can create a different problem. Participants consider which decisions need specialist referral and which delays arise from unclear ownership. I use the two-clock approach from my own leadership record, including its cohort boundaries and the cost of training and review. The discussion includes rejected interim payments, reopened issues and the risk of measuring only convenient files. My aim is to help an executive audience frame better questions for its own claims function. I do not provide advice on individual claims or suggest that a process example overrides policy terms, facts or the judgement of the authorised decision-maker.
