Who should write, and what to tell me first

An insurer earns its policyholders' trust in the fortnight after a typhoon, so I judge every system by how it behaves in that queue.

If you are a nomination committee chair, a board secretariat or a search partner in Japan considering an outside director with operational technology and disaster-continuity experience, I would be glad to hear from you. It helps if your first message says which market the company is listed on, which committees the board expects me to join, how many meetings a year it holds, and whether the company has any relationship with Kotonami, our agencies or the integrators we use. I check those before agreeing to a first meeting.

I also welcome claims and technology leaders from other insurers who want to compare notes on catastrophe readiness, agency data or delegated access for older customers, and invitations to speak to directors about system risk. I cannot discuss Kotonami's unpublished results, open incidents, supplier negotiations or anything else that is not public, and I do not take approaches from vendors through this page. Executive roles elsewhere are not something I am considering before the motor migration is complete. Please use the contact route on this site. I read every message myself and normally reply within ten days, in Japanese or English.
