A site ranking should follow agreement about the activity being counted, rather than give an unresolved definition the appearance of a performance judgement.
The unit must survive the journey into the decision
I am chief data officer of Relzavi Clinical Linen Services in Vadodara. We operate processing centres in Vadodara, Ratlam and Udaipur, with 840 employees and ₹238 crore revenue in the year ended March 2026. My team comprises twenty-four data colleagues through four leads. I manage ₹5.8 crore annual function expense and ₹1.8 crore approved capital expenditure, reporting to CEO Ketan Orzavi. Quality head Nadia Qezhari retains technical assessment and release authority; a corrected data record is not my permission to release linen.
My career began in supply analysis in 1994 and moved through textile planning into data leadership. The recurring lesson is that a familiar number can conceal a different meaning. A catalogue may describe a bundle where a report expects a piece. A processing bag may have a complete event history but no dependable customer allocation. Two timestamps may appear out of order because their time settings differ. A consumption comparison may rank sites that have counted their activity in different ways. None of these questions is answered simply by adding another decimal place.
The cases here concern the definitions and responsibilities behind operating data. We corrected unit mappings, kept unallocated bags out of billing until reviewed, preserved original process records while timestamp differences were examined and postponed a site ranking until its denominator was agreed. Each decision had a cost and an owner beyond the data team. Our records support service and quality work; they do not prove a clinical result, and the figures here should not be read as evidence of sterility or infection prevention.
Eighteen catalogue units did not mean single pieces
A review of seventy-two linen stock codes found eighteen bundle-to-piece mapping errors in reporting. A ₹62 lakh definition and mapping programme corrected the identified report relationships without claiming that physical stock had disappeared or increased.
Twenty-seven bags needed a customer decision before billing
Among 320 reviewed processing bags, twenty-seven lacked dependable customer identifiers. We held their billing allocation for review and funded ₹41 lakh of record and handoff work. Finance accepted the resolved allocations; we did not infer them from convenience.
Four denominator definitions changed an eleven-site comparison
Four of eleven contract sites used inconsistent occupied-bed-day definitions in a proposed consumption comparison. I postponed the ranking while a ₹24 lakh definition programme established an agreed basis. A comparable measure did not itself reduce linen use.
Current focus
I am making the definitions behind operating comparisons visible to the people who approve budgets and service decisions. The useful question is what a measure permits someone to conclude, and which uncertainty must remain explicit until another owner has reviewed it.
Conversations I welcome
I am considering one additional non-executive appointment, provisionally eighteen days annually alongside twelve days for my existing workwear-repair board role, with both commitments and employer consent reviewed together.

Meher made us distinguish a corrected reporting unit from a physical stock result. The decision paper explained the mapping work and its effect on comparisons without claiming an operating benefit the evidence had not established.
