Start with a quantity or relationship that your current report makes look simpler than the underlying material. It may be a weight label, a dispatch with several origins or a percentage whose basis has disappeared. An initial message should describe the decision and the missing qualification without sharing private supplier volumes, laboratory returns or customer records. For a CDO mandate, explain how business and quality owners participate in acceptance and who can stop a misleading view. For a board enquiry, identify the oversight question, preparation and calendar alongside my executive responsibilities. I would want the relevant relationships assessed before protected information is exchanged. The first conversation should establish whether the organisation is prepared to preserve an unresolved answer while its meaning is examined, rather than require a complete dashboard before the evidence supports one.
