Design for the moment after the easy demonstration
Chief Information Officer / India
I make retail systems dependable beyond the successful demonstration: when a request is repeated, when a customer uses a keyboard and when a device approaches the end of support.

A successful response is only one part of a dependable service. I want the enterprise to understand what happens when the response is missing, the usual interaction is unavailable or the technology can no longer be supported.
Design for the moment after the easy demonstration.
A retry looked like a sensible convenience in the order application I supported as head of systems. If the screen did not receive a response, it sent the request again. In a 2019 rehearsal with sixty synthetic orders, eighteen produced a second order record when the first response was deliberately lost after the order had already been stored. The request had succeeded; the screen did not know it. I had endorsed a review that tested ordinary completion without giving that uncertain state enough attention. No live customer was charged through this exercise, but the demonstration exposed a responsibility we could not leave to a shop colleague to guess. We held the release and changed how the application identified and reconciled a repeated request.
At Tervqani Craft Stores in Jaipur, I lead twenty-four technology colleagues through three leaders. Our fourteen shops and online catalogue serve people buying hobby-craft materials and creative supplies. The enterprise employs 244 people and recorded ₹82 crore revenue for FY 2025–26. My remit includes ₹4.1 crore annual operating expense and ₹1.2 crore separately approved change authority. CEO Mira Delqeri holds enterprise strategy and COO Rohit Veqnashi holds the shop operation. The technology function must make their service choices workable, including the conditions that a polished demonstration tends to omit. A missing acknowledgement, an unreachable colour control or an ageing device can each leave a colleague or customer facing a different kind of uncertainty.
My later work has included keyboard access through the buying journey and a planned transition away from shop devices approaching the end of vendor security support. These decisions require more than a statement that the application works or the hardware still switches on. They require a defined test, a funded response and an honest account of what is unfinished. I would consider another CIO mandate with that continuing responsibility, and a first outside board contribution after further preparation. I have no statutory appointment or personal equity interest in Tervqani. Any outside role still needs a review of commercial relationships, capacity and suitability; absence of a shareholding is not evidence that those questions have already been settled.
The lost response was not a failed order
Held an order release after a synthetic rehearsal exposed duplicate records from repeated requests.
A visible control was not always reachable
Funded keyboard journey repairs while preserving the unresolved tasks in the acceptance account.
Working equipment still needed a support plan
Separated installed replacements, pending devices and controlled retirement in an end-of-support programme.
Current focus
Service ownership that includes uncertain transaction states, practical access and the continuing support life of shop technology.
Conversations I welcome
A consumer CIO mandate and, after further preparation, one suitable first non-executive contribution.
The leadership record
Trusted with consequential decisions.
