Do not let a precise display outrun the location evidence.
In 2018 I approved a property-location view that showed 180 records as equally precise points. The display looked orderly. The evidence was not uniform: 120 positions had survey verification, forty-two were postal-area centres and eighteen had no established source. I had allowed a shared symbol to imply a shared standard. We withdrew that view from building-level screening and made the distinctions visible before asking professional users to rely on it. The correction did not turn every record into a surveyed location. Some information remained too coarse or unresolved for the proposed purpose.
I lead forty-seven data employees through four heads at Navqelri General Assurance in Ludhiana, with nine contractors counted separately. My ₹11.8 crore annual function expense is distinct from the insurer’s ₹2,080 crore gross written premium. I report to CEO Mina Qerzlavi and work with stewardship head Dilip Vezlqari. Data colleagues preserve the source and meaning of information; we do not decide insurance cover, certify a hydrological model or replace a professional site survey. I have a 0.1 percent beneficial interest through the employee vehicle and no statutory board appointment. Those facts belong beside the leadership account, not outside it.
Later work asked which version of a geographic boundary belonged to an earlier report and how uncertainty should appear near a modelled flood boundary. A current map could not silently rewrite the past, and a sharp line could not establish that every property on one side was safe. I would consider a CDO mandate where the organisation wants to understand those limits before a polished view becomes a business conclusion. For an outside contribution, I still need preparation and appointment-specific assessment. My proposed twenty-three annual days must be tested against the real calendar. The contribution I would bring is a habit of following a seemingly precise answer back to its source, date and intended use, including when the presentation I initially approved made the evidence look stronger than it was.
Precision matched to provenance
Surveyed positions were separated from postal-area centres and unresolved records.
The historical map remained historical
Earlier reporting used the boundary version appropriate to its defined period.
Uncertainty stayed beside the boundary
A sensitivity review kept unstable classifications out of a definitive account.
Professional decisions remained separate
Location stewardship supported assessment without deciding cover or loss.
Current focus
Location information whose source, version and uncertainty remain visible through use.
Conversations I welcome
Insurance data leadership and a prepared first non-executive contribution after interest and capacity review.
