Seasonal Trade-Pricing and Inventory-Finance Specialist Adviser mandate in Thane, India · Stationery and Consumer Products

A commercial-finance forum needs specialist challenge of seasonal pricing, trade spend and inventory funding; a six-month adviser will test contribution and cash assumptions without assuming commercial approval, board strategy or executive finance authority.

The mandate

The forum repeatedly asks whether seasonal trade investment is buying durable contribution or simply advancing dispatch while increasing stock and cash risk. Price increases, rebates and assortment choices are often reviewed separately even though customers experience them together. The adviser will test that connected question at controller-level commercial finance scope, not present a specialist retainer as a corporate strategy seat.

Four days monthly are reserved for pricing-paper review, inventory and channel interviews and a written forum challenge. Scheduled attendance is included. Materials should arrive five working days ahead; ad-hoc queries receive acknowledgement within one business day and analysis within three when records are sufficient. Fresh market research or a complete customer profitability study requires separately approved work.

The term covers six months from 19 October 2026. Renewal is decided by the forum chair only after identifying the seasonal pricing or funding questions still requiring independent review. Thane is the coordinating location, with remote preparation and planned India workshops inside the reserved days. The engagement should leave better evidence habits in the forum rather than permanent external dependence for every rebate decision.

The specialist has no line authority to change prices, customer terms or inventory orders. No executive responsibility for commercial outcomes or finance sign-off is transferred through the advisory role. Internal leaders decide the action, while advice makes contribution, timing and stock consequences visible. A weak proposal should receive a practical evidence request or alternative, not a generic instruction to reduce all trade spend.

Non-competing concurrent work is permitted if the cadence can be met. A customer or distributor retainer, interest in a reviewed channel intermediary or paid preparation of the same pricing case would conflict. Those links must be disclosed before access, with subject restrictions or recusal where required. Confidential customer and trade data cannot be used to support another supplier's negotiation.

What you will own

  • Test seasonal pricing proposals against realised channel contribution, rebate exposure and customer behaviour evidence before the forum assumes a price change will improve cash.
  • Question assortment and stock plans where projected dispatch depends on trade incentives whose total contribution cost or return risk is not yet reconciled.
  • Shape comparisons of price, rebate and stock alternatives that expose timing and working-capital consequences without deciding the commercial route for internal leaders.
  • Press owners to identify demand evidence and expiry conditions for seasonal inventory investment rather than carrying optimistic assumptions unchanged across successive review papers.
  • Challenge customer-profitability assertions that omit returns, credit timing or trade support, preserving controlled financial amounts and the limitation of any incomplete allocation.
  • Recommend forum evidence standards and decision triggers that make seasonal contribution and cash risk revisitable while keeping pricing, purchasing and finance approvals internal.

Candidate qualifications

  • Evidence twelve-plus years in finance with controller or senior business-partner responsibility in consumer products, manufacturing, retail or trade. Describe a seasonal commercial proposal you challenged, the financial assumption changed and the resulting action. Explain how the review distinguished demand supported by customer evidence from dispatch purchased through incentives, and identify the pricing or stock decision retained by the commercial owner.
  • Show practical channel contribution analysis across price, rebates, returns and customer credit. Provide a case where apparent margin improvement did not translate into cash or where trade spend bought dispatch without durable demand. Explain the source evidence and the limitation you made visible.
  • Bring inventory-finance and budget capability connecting seasonal demand, stock commitment and working capital. Describe how you evaluated a proposed inventory build, distinguished justified readiness from unsupported carry and kept product or commercial judgement with its owners. Indirect-tax knowledge may assist interpretation but does not create a filing or legal-advice remit.
  • Prove independent specialist advice to a functional forum, including a customer, distributor or consulting conflict handled in practice. Disclose relevant current relationships and show a workable four-day monthly review commitment. The adviser must produce concise challenge and usable alternatives without becoming the default owner of pricing approvals or customer negotiation.
