Public-Market Financial Evidence Principal — Historical Segment Comparability

Public-Market Financial Evidence Principal mandate in Bengaluru, India · Technology Platform Public-Market Preparation
Deliver a reproducible historical financial comparison package for a technology company's public-market preparation, connecting approved segment definitions and selected performance measures to source accounts so authorised disclosure owners can judge comparability without relying on undocumented analyst adjustments.
The mandate
A technology company preparing for possible public-market access has changed internal segment views during its recent growth. Historical investor comparisons now rely on analyst adjustments whose definitions and source links are not consistently recorded. The principal will deliver a bounded evidence package covering two financial years and four agreed performance measures. Specialist responsibility lies in the method, reconciliation and reproducible comparison. Controllers and authorised disclosure owners retain accounting conclusions and external statements; the consultant does not determine a listing route or rewrite the company's financial history to support a preferred valuation.
Discovery and historical-source testing begin on 26 October 2026; three weekly working days are protected across the six-month project. The ₹60,00,000 fee is divided into 25%, 40% and 35% payments against accepted stages. Bengaluru workshops and remote historical-reporting sessions are included. The sponsor supplies signed accounts, management reporting records, approved segment definitions, adjustment explanations and six available internal owners. Where historic data cannot support a clean comparison, the package must record the limitation and the authorised treatment rather than manufacture precision through an undocumented allocation.
On 18 December 2026, milestone one delivers the source inventory, segment-definition history and agreed comparison perimeter. On 26 February 2027, milestone two provides reconciled bridges and documented measure calculations with tested exceptions. On 26 April 2027, final acceptance follows independent replay by finance users and review of the complete evidence file. The CFO accepts with controller sign-off on financial treatment and disclosure-adviser review of intended use. Tests require another qualified user to reconstruct selected comparisons from the retained source records, including a period affected by changed segment boundaries.
Scope excludes audit opinions, formal restatement, forward forecasts and preparation of a complete securities document. Additional years, measures or segment-policy decisions require written sponsor agreement on fee and timing. The principal owns defensible calculation and transfer, not executive reporting approval. Acceptance depends on traceable artifacts, identified limitations and user capability, with no condition linked to an IPO, regulator acceptance or market price. The final file should make clear which comparison is supported, which remains conditional and who owns any authoritative conclusion still needed before information can be released.
What you will own
- Establish the first-stage source and definition inventory, linking approved segment changes to the agreed historical periods so the sponsor can distinguish missing evidence from a legitimate change in management's business view.
- Design comparison bridges that reconcile historical and current segment interpretations to source accounts, preserving authorised conclusions and limitations instead of assuming every past transaction can be reassigned reliably to today's structure.
- Document the four selected performance measures with definitions, adjustments and financial reconciliations, making their purpose and differences from statutory figures clear before disclosure owners assess their intended external use.
- Test material adjustments and changed-boundary cases with controllers, separating supported calculation from judgement requiring authoritative approval and recording where incomplete records prevent a precise or fully comparable result.
- Produce second-stage evidence tables and replay instructions for internal users, requiring source-linked calculations rather than a spreadsheet whose answer can only be trusted because the original analyst explains it personally.
- Facilitate independent reconstruction of withheld historical examples, repairing ambiguous definitions and retaining evidence of user capability before the CFO considers final acceptance of the package.
- Deliver the completed historical file with maintenance rules and unresolved disclosure dependencies, keeping added measures or future periods under written change control rather than absorbing them into an unpriced readiness tail.
Candidate qualifications
- Demonstrate personally delivered financial evidence or readiness work in technology, SaaS, advertising, fintech or a comparable multi-segment business. Explain a historical comparison that appeared straightforward until a definition or boundary change altered its meaning. Your method must show reliable source reconciliation, explicit limitations and a qualified approval route, not simply reformatting existing investor slides or accepting undocumented adjustments because senior management preferred the resulting trend.
- Establish senior financial-information or strategic-finance responsibility within a finance career spanning twelve to eighteen years. Applied IFRS, consolidation-system or similar reporting preparation is useful when supported by actual judgement. Show how management performance measures were distinguished from statutory results and how qualified controllers reviewed their financial basis. The role requires credible technical standing without granting external audit, legal or disclosure approval authority.
- Have built reproducible calculations and acceptance tests that another finance professional could execute independently. Describe a replay that exposed an unsupported allocation or incomplete historic record, including the honest limitation retained after repair. The project needs disciplined evidence design across a frozen perimeter; a plausible answer cannot be accepted merely because every table adds up or a presentation achieves a visually consistent growth story.
- Reserve three weekly days across the stated term and provide proof of internal transfer with controlled files and instructions. Confidentiality extends to unreleased financial comparisons and possible transaction plans. Manage unavailable inputs and added scope explicitly. Principal accountability is for accepted historical artifacts and user capability, with no promise of listing, regulatory agreement, valuation or other outcome outside the sponsor-approved financial evidence assignment.
