An invitation
Begin with the responsibility you need the role to carry
I welcome a considered enquiry about an insurance engineering role, a first external board contribution or a discussion of technology that serves long-lived customer commitments. Please describe the organisation, the decision it is facing and the responsibility envisaged. Public information is sufficient for an opening conversation; confidential policy records, pricing material and internal board papers should remain with their authorised recipients. I hold an executive appointment and would need employer agreement, relationship checks and a practical time assessment before considering another commitment. For speaking, the audience's responsibilities and the question they want to examine are more useful than a broad request for a technology forecast. I can discuss product history, transition funding and the boundary between technical readiness and operating approval using fictional or properly authorised examples. An enquiry begins an assessment of fit and does not reserve availability or establish the suitability of a proposed appointment.
