Choose for the working day
I compare two fictional pump designs across a defined twelve-hour operating schedule to show why a peak specification does not settle every selection. Participants see the three measured power inputs and the durations used to calculate each duty total. One design is worse at the third point, even though the selected schedule favours it overall. The discussion asks what happens when the schedule changes and which claim the comparison can responsibly support. I separate the development programme's cost from a calculated energy difference and explain why neither establishes an annual customer saving on its own. The session is intended for colleagues who need to make a product recommendation understandable across functions. It does not teach installation design or promise a universal efficiency result. I close with the planning question I would now ask earlier: whose work is the test intended to represent, and what evidence makes that duty a credible basis for the choice?
