Examine the claim without taking over the operating decision
I would contribute to oversight by examining the relationship between a management claim and the evidence used to support it. A number can be calculated correctly while describing a narrower population than the discussion assumes. A prediction can appear persuasive because it knows something unavailable at the intended decision time. A category can be convenient for processing work while remaining unsuitable for assigning responsibility. My experience has made those distinctions practical questions about the commitments an enterprise is asked to make, rather than matters to leave inside the data function.
I would begin with an account of my own error. In 2018 I approved a punctuality report based on 884 on-time journeys among 920 completed, while eighty unserved bookings were absent from its headline population. The full cohort contained one thousand eligible bookings, with 36 late and eighty unserved separately visible. We corrected the account and spent ₹34 lakh rebuilding the reporting process. I would want directors to understand both the original approval and the limits of the correction. A clearer report did not make historical journeys earlier or establish a clinical outcome.
The model case would lead me to ask how closely an evaluation reflects the proposed use. A completion code created after the journey appeared in an operational prediction intended for booking time. We stopped rollout, withdrew the retrospective claim and retained ₹44 lakh already spent. Removing the field did not establish the value of a revised model. I would ask management to explain what the process can know at the decision point and which conclusions have actually been tested. Directors need that explanation without becoming the team choosing every analytical technique or directing the project day by day.
I would also look for variation that a convenient central statistic leaves out of a commitment. Eighty observed pickup journeys had a 48-minute median, but twelve exceeded ninety minutes. That evidence challenged a proposed uniform ninety-minute planning assumption. The ₹71 lakh time-band programme was work to improve the planning account, not proof of reduced delay or better care. A board can ask whether management has considered the part of the distribution relevant to capacity without treating a small review as a universal forecast. The limits of the sample should travel with the recommendation it informs.
Customer-affecting policies need equal attention to event meaning. A penalty proposal used 120 cancellation records containing 72 passenger requests, thirty provider failures and eighteen administrative duplicates. We stopped it before use and allocated ₹39 lakh to rework. I would help directors examine the chain from record to consequence and ask whether the category supports the responsibility being inferred. Even a cleaner group of passenger-requested cancellations would not automatically establish a justified penalty. Policy owners and relevant specialists retain their responsibilities; an analytical output does not remove the enterprise's need for judgement.
The report-release case shows why oversight must consider context as well as fields. Removing names left route, time and ward combinations that could still be revealing. We withheld the granular output and supported ₹58 lakh of redesign with coarser reporting and appropriate access review. I would not offer directors a universal minimum cell size or claim that one formatting change creates anonymity. I would ask whether the requested purpose, recipient and retained detail have been assessed together. Qualified privacy review belongs in that assessment, with useful reporting designed around appropriate limits rather than a blanket assertion that all detail is safe or all reporting must stop.
I have presented data and investment matters through the CEO, but have not held a statutory appointment. An outside role would require learning beyond the questions I know best: finances, people, customers, sector responsibilities and the practical conditions of collective oversight. I would seek an experienced chair and complementary expertise, and ask for feedback on whether my questions clarify the board's decision. My current function's technical responsibility would not become authority to prescribe another company's operations. I would expect induction to change some of my assumptions and improve how I contribute to the whole enterprise.
My employment and 2% shareholding require disclosure alongside relevant commercial relationships. Employer consent, appointment-specific professional review and a realistic assessment of twenty-three provisional days would precede acceptance. The fictional record includes IICA registration in May 2026, with the assessment unfinished and no exemption claimed. Those facts should remain visible rather than be replaced by a vague readiness claim. I would consider committee membership only where the company's needs and applicable requirements fit. My intended contribution is to help directors see what evidence permits them to conclude, what it leaves unresolved and who remains responsible for the next decision.
On governance
I want the record to preserve the experience that an attractive summary is tempted to leave outside it. A booking that was never served still belongs in the service account. A field created after a journey cannot quietly predict the same journey at booking time. A cancellation code needs its reason before it becomes a judgement about the passenger. Those distinctions change the decision, not just the report.

I would explore a first outside board contribution in operational services or data-intensive businesses, with employer consent and qualified review of my 2% holding and commercial relationships. I have no statutory seat. The fictional record includes May 2026 IICA registration, an unfinished assessment and no exemption. Twenty-three provisional days must be examined against the receiving enterprise's preparation, travel and exceptional demands.
