The product fitted the customer's patio. It did not fit through the route our crew had to use to reach it. The delivery team had dimensions, but they were dimensions of the furniture and its destination, not a sufficient account of doors, turns and permitted access. I recognised the mistake because I had encountered it in exhibition work years earlier. At Amlaqeri I had still allowed the sales and delivery process to treat a suitable final space as evidence that the journey into it would work.

Plan the whole journey into a usable space

I am Roxanne Darshevi, chief operating officer of the fictional Amlaqeri Leisure Stores in Mysuru. We sell outdoor furniture and garden-room products through twenty-nine shops, with delivery and assembly as part of the operating promise. I grew up in Navsari and began by planning exhibition installations. An object could look right in a drawing and still fail to pass through the entrance. That early lesson became more important when the destination was somebody's home and the customer had arranged a day around our visit.

Our company employs 980 people and recorded ₹318 crore revenue with ₹26.7 crore operating profit for the year ending March 2026. I lead 690 operating colleagues through seven leaders within ₹48 crore delegated annual operating expense. Merchandise purchases and separately approved capital sit outside that figure. Founders hold 43%, patient private investors 47% and management 10%; my own 0.8% is included in the management holding. I report to CEO Naina Velquani and present to the board without a statutory seat. Installation head Darius Terzavek owns field execution with the relevant technical specialists.

My recent decisions have concerned the work between an attractive product and a usable result. We changed how access is checked before a bulky delivery, funded approved assembly kits instead of repeated journeys for missing supplies, and converted warehouse space into an assembly area while accepting less storage capacity. We also challenged a completion account based too heavily on photographs. Each choice had an operating and financial consequence. I want customers and directors to understand what has actually been accomplished, what remains open and which parts of the promise require a different professional's judgement.

Access became part of the delivery commitment

After eighty-two access-related failures among 640 attempted orders, we funded earlier planning. A later cohort recorded thirty-five among 720 attempts, with no claim that planning alone caused the difference.

An assembly area consumed storage capacity

Converting 5,200 square feet of the existing warehouse cost ₹1.9 crore capital and reduced pallet positions from 420 to 328. The operating choice included that lost capacity.

A completion photograph did not close every job

Of 512 installations marked complete, 451 were confirmed complete and sixty-one needed further work or clarification. Six correction cases remained open at the October review.

Current focus

Making access, assembly capacity and completion evidence visible before another customer promise is accepted.

Roxanne put the ninety-two pallet positions we would lose in the same recommendation as the assembly area we would gain. That made the warehouse decision a choice we could assess.
