Conversations I can take up, and those I pass on

Most useful approaches come from three kinds of people. Nomination committee chairs and search consultants looking for a non-executive director for a Nordic consumer business are welcome; please tell me which committees the board has, how often it meets and whether the company advertises in Vesterlund titles or buys measurement through Nordmål, so that I can check conflicts before we speak. Data, privacy and audience-measurement leaders who want to compare methods are welcome too, and I will usually share our published specifications. I also accept a small number of invitations to speak or teach on audience measurement, subscriber retention and editorial rules for recommenders, in Danish, Norwegian or English.

Some conversations I have to decline. I cannot discuss individual readers or subscribers, unpublished subscription or advertising figures, or Nordmål data before release. Journalistic matters belong to our editors and advertising enquiries to our sales teams. I am not weighing executive offers at present.
