The seat I am pursuing
I would consider one initial external role where the board needs closer examination of the relationship between asset growth and continuing service obligations. Strategy or risk committee work could be relevant after induction; I claim no chair qualification. The enterprise should explain the judgement it needs and the expertise its existing directors already provide. My record is useful because it includes changed recommendations, bounded models and smaller commitments, not because it establishes that restraint is always preferable to expansion. I would need room to learn the company's own opportunities as well as its dependencies. Registration alone does not settle eligibility, and the fictional assessment remains unfinished. I would decline a role with recurring conflicts, unrealistic time demands or an expectation that a director should operate a parallel executive function.

My contribution to a board
I would help a board examine what an asset-growth proposition leaves outside its first headline. The useful questions may concern movements around a depot, the months around a peak rental rate or several contracts linked to the same project. My experience includes a recommendation I revised when operations supplied a more complete account. I would bring that discipline through collective scrutiny, not direct another company's logistics or negotiate its contracts. Financial, legal and technical perspectives from other directors and qualified advisers would remain essential. Before applying a lesson from site cabins, I would learn how the prospective enterprise earns revenue and supports its assets over time. A familiar rental or utilisation term can conceal a different obligation in another business. The contribution should make management's choices clearer while preserving its responsibility to execute them.
Judgement in practice
01Retaining the first-year disadvantage in the recommended option
The peripheral depot's rent and transport subtotal was ₹200 lakh annually against ₹181 lakh at the closer site under stated assumptions. Fit-out produced first-year subtotals of ₹245 lakh and ₹269 lakh. I revised my initial preference but kept the closer site's higher initial requirement visible. As a director, I would ask what the comparison includes, what it excludes and which conditions support the recommendation. The arithmetic was not a full investment valuation or an achieved saving. Oversight needs the trade-off and the owners of the remaining assessment, rather than a favourable recurring line presented as proof that every period improves.
02Making a segment comparison earn its next commitment
Ninety event units recorded ₹96 lakh rental revenue and ₹81 lakh specified direct costs before depreciation, central costs and financing. A different construction-site group suggested a question about sustained use but did not prove the result of moving the same assets. We approved a thirty-unit pilot with ₹1.4 crore programme expenditure. I would ask a board whether management has kept observed history, comparison and forecast distinct, and what learning the pilot is intended to support. The segment remainder was not profit and the pilot was not a completed improvement. Directors should see the seasonal relationships and capacity given up alongside the experiment.
03Looking through the counterparty count
Eight of eighteen reviewed contracts covered 270 of 540 units and linked to one construction project through four contractors. The remaining ten contracts covered another 270 units across six projects. I would ask whether a claimed spread of demand has been examined at the level relevant to the growth decision. The finding did not predict default or simultaneous returns. Our next commitment was forty units for two unrelated projects with ₹4.8 crore approved expenditure, leaving sixty proposed units uncommitted. A board should understand that narrower sequence without calling it a like-for-like saving or assuming that two more projects remove all concentration.
My first year on a board
I would start with the company's service cycle and the cash obligations around its assets, alongside its financial statements and applicable governance responsibilities. Through induction agreed with the chair, I would examine one completed growth decision and one current proposal, listening to operating and commercial leaders as well as finance. I would want to understand the evidence behind demand, the role of partners and the conditions under which assets return or require further support. Assessment preparation and any applicable appointment requirements would need completion rather than an assumption that executive presentations had supplied all necessary learning. A committee role would follow its charter and demonstrated fit. At the first annual review I would ask whether my questions helped the board understand choices and whether I had respected the distinction between scrutiny and running the business.
Conflicts and their management
Dazvori's contractors, project clients, equipment suppliers and regional intermediaries could overlap with a prospective company. The family, employee and investor vehicles create further connections to examine. Employer consent and a relationship review should precede confidential discussions. Repeated exclusion from central matters may make a seat unsuitable even where an interest can be disclosed. Applicable Companies Act independence conditions, SEBI LODR provisions where relevant, committee responsibilities and directorship limits require company-specific professional review. The provisional twenty-four days must cover induction, preparation, travel and exceptional demands alongside my present role. Confidential site schedules, contracts and depot proposals would stay within their authorised relationships. I would not accept an opportunity whose value depended on using that knowledge for another company's advantage. A clear contribution matters only if the conditions allow it to be made responsibly and consistently.
My independence statement
My employment links me with Dazvori's customers, equipment suppliers, service partners and ownership vehicles. Personal equity is absent, but employment interests remain. Independence and the ability to participate require examination of the actual company, its relationships and applicable appointment conditions.
